Draco's summer was ok... he didn't do much. Mostly found ways to talk to Astoria. Their first meeting she told him about a horrible thought she had the last night at Hogwarts, "What if someone made The Basilisk petrify me? Or what if it was revenge?!" she had asked him, he had only said one sentence, "Who would want revenge on you?". Instantly, the question triggered both theirs minds and in unison they declared all the people who would want revenge:
"Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Astoria's sister, ANY of the people they made fun of...". "That doesn't make sense, none of those people would have any connection to the Basilisk or any way of persuading it" Draco had said. "So, it would have to be an adult". Then more lists, "Professor Mcgonagal, Hagrid, maybe Dumbledore, and Astoria's Mother."
"MY MOTHER!!!"
"What if I didn't do something... but my Mother did. I bet someone was trying to get revenge on her, he or she must work for Lord Voldemort..."
They had a lead on this mystery case.
