A F I A P A T E L
"No see its supposed to be about development in technology, Y. Not about the environment and its changes."
She groans and lightly hits her head against her white wooden table. I'm helping her with her assignment from the previous night and lets just say, we're getting absolutely nowhere.
I pet her cat, Professor McGonagall. Yes she names her cat after the professor in Harry Potter. She's absolutely madly in love with Harry Potter. I have no idea how she can like those dumb movies but she does.
Professor McGonagall purrs in content under my hand as I scratch the back of her head. She was grey and white in colour with the most gorgeous and striking pair of blue eyes. Honestly I've never been a fan of blue eyes but hers are beautiful and its the lightest shade of blue I have ever seen.
I've always wondered how people with different colour eyes see the world. Is it the same from a normal pair of eyes or do they see the world differently. What if for example because they have blue eyes, everything thats in blue they can't see or is a different shade of blue than the original colour or what if they can see things we can't see all because they have a different eye colour, if so that's the most cruel thing in the world.
"Ugh, how am I going to pass this bloody semester! I didn't even start and its due in the next 5 hours." She groans again and rubs her hands down her face. She begins tapping her pen against her desk before flinging the thing. Almost hitting poor Professor McGonagall in the head.
We hear the door from downstairs open and shut close before Yasmeens sister, Atiya, shouts saying that she's home. Yasmeen was the oldest in her family, Atiya was the middle child and was in her senior year in high school. They have a brother who just started high school one year ago.
Prof.McGonagall scrambles of the bed and makes her way out of the room. Her tail held high in the air. I mumble a traitor under my breath and scream a reply to Atiya before racking my brains on how to assist Yasmeen.
"Hey Y," she hums in response while rereading the question for about the 10th time, "if they speaking about development in technology why don't you draw like a building or tree or something in the middle of your page and on the left side you draw the oldest days, like horse carriage and people not on their phones, clear skies, riding bicycles etc and on the right side you draw the complete opposite. People driving cars, people with headphones walking the streets, loads of buildings etc?"
She thinks for a minute before squealing and hugging me to death. "Thank you so so so so much A. I would've literally died if I had nothing to do. You're a life saver." She let's go of me and I wave her off.
"That's what friends are here for. Though you know what its going to cost you right?" I innocently ask while twirling my hair between my finger tips.
"Yes, Lindt Dark Chocolate. I already know the terms and conditions." She rolls her eyes and begins drawing on her blank white page.
I chuckle and shoot her a smile before heading downstairs to the kitchen to eat something. Those packets of chips were not fulling at all.
As I'm rummaging through the cupboards a body hits mine from behind. And I jump out of my skin, turning around only to see it was the cat and scowled at her. I settle for oreos and of course its the last pack that she has. What kind of friend will I be if I left it all of her?
I jump on the couch and I see Mohammed Uwais, Yasmeens brother, sitting on the couch playing Mortal Combat.
I sit down and he glances at me before giving his full attention towards the screen. I quickly finish the oreos and nudge him on his shoulder.
