My breathing was harsh as the cold weather faced me while walking. So annoyed that I had a light jacket when much more was needed.
" soo , Charls." his voice echoed through the cold it seemed. Looking over at my friend Kareem who walked next to me. He clenched his jaw stuffing his hands deeper into his pockets . " what'd you plan to do once you get home?" he questioned me. "why? why you concerned?" I chortled glancing at him briefly. "no reason." we kept walking. There was a reason, but I didn't dare bother to harass him with questions. Sighing, I stared at my feet with each step. The steam that came from my mouth everytime I would take a breath barely seemed to distract me today like the previous. Kareem. no one thought that me, and an eighteen year old boy would ever become the best of friends, and honestly me either, but surprisingly we did, and by the day we act more like one another.
His mother was like my mother. She let me stay over at times, but only when my brother Sev would stay as well. His mother once was suspicious of our relationship I mean who wouldn't? a seventeen year old girl spending majority of her days with a nine-teen year old boy. But overall he filled those spacious holes that needed filling.Theres him, and then there's me. Typical me. ole ordinary me. I'm nothing special- the only pluses about me is my puffy hair, and clear complexion. I'm barely thick with a fair waist, and my only friend is well, Kareem.
His physical features were like any fit black guy. Every once in a while I'd look at him and imagine only imaginable thoughts because that's all they could every be, but then at times I would catch myself slipping, and remember that it's Kareem, and not just some boy. His lips were plump, and his skin was a smooth milk chocolate color. Kareem stood what seemed to be six feet tall when I knew he was only 5'11. And he was somewhat protective over me, and I had absolutely no problems with that.
"Charlie, you cold? -you're lighter than normal." he asked suddenly, staring at my home that was steps away from us.
"What's its look like?" I flashed an quick eye his way.
"Hm-Hm." he mumbled before letting out a deep chuckle. "You want my coat Charls?" pleased at his gentleman ways I politely declined. " I'm just about home."
"Aight." he grinned bundling up into his heavy winter attire.
The house was nearing, and the vacant driveway showed that I would be alone for hours or more.
"What's wrong with you?" he said, glancing his eyes at me as we reached my home.
"Not a thing."
"Really?"
"No." I gave up obviously throwing on a long face.
"Why is that?" he beamed at me. Shivering before answering his question. "I'm assuming that I'll be here for a while on my own. Maybe you could stay like you did the other evening."
"ehh." Kareem had scrunched his face up looking from me to the spacious outside world. "Sev, he isn't here. . .so that means that I can't be here."
"That's a shame reem." I shook my head. " You'd know I'd do the same for you." I folded my arms.
"Yeah, when Sev is there." he chuckled before he rolled his eyes. "Charls, you know you couldn't handle us being alone for the first time anyways."
"Why, What!?Im more mature than you. I act it-"
Then it hit me. That what he was talking about wasn't at all what my young ass was talking about. He glared at me as if he knew what I was thinking.
" ohh, um. " I bit my bottom lip as his eyes lingered my face. His posture was relaxed, and I guess that he was awaiting for my conclusion.
