Ch 9

Ember's Pov

Once I had placed the box onto the kitchen island, I started to open it but I was surprised to see a little black kitten inside it. "Awe, you're such a cute little thing" As I got a closer look at the feline, I started to notice the burnt fur. It didn't look recent though I couldn't have been too sure since this type of thing wasn't my specialty.

"Come here little guy" The kitten was asleep but I didn't want him to wake up so I very carefully lifted him out of the box and set him on the island. "What happened to you little fella? You're covered with charred fur... I hope your precious owners didn't do this to you. Don't worry I know someone who can fix you right up... Ash come quick I need you!"

As the girl came running from the living room I watched as she immediately makes her way over to the kitten that rested on our island. "God Ember what the hell happened to this little guy? I've seen plenty of abused animals during my time as a vet tech but this fur is one of the worst. It's almost like he's been set on fire multiple times and dosed with water"

"He was in a cardboard box on our front steps so I'm not sure what exactly happened to him. Do you think he'll be okay?... Oh, there's a note in here let's see what lowlife has decided to leave their abused cat with us" I must not have seen it the first time but as I picked it up my body leaned back against a chair before I started to unfold the note.

Though once I got it opened, I was only left more confused. "Everyone deserves a second chance... I wonder what that could mean... How is the little guy Ash, do you think he'll be okay?" At first, she didn't say a word though I knew that Ash was just in vet mode at the moment. "Look at this wound Ember" When my eyes shifted to the underbelly of the small kitten I was confused as to what she wanted me to see since I've never seen a wound quite like these before.

"What are they? I'm not a vet but these don't look like a normal wound" As I looked away from the ten raised circle wounds, I waited for Ash to come up with an explanation. "I'm not sure but he should be fine... Oh, he's waking up Ember! That's a good sign" When I noticed the kitten's movements, I looked back at Ash for only a second so I could ask her to go watch the others

Leaving those guys unattended was a terrible idea even if the two firecracker men weren't currently in the room though I couldn't risk anything happening that could be prevented. "Ash, do you mind going back with the others and watching them? I don't want them to destroy anything" After Ash had started to nod her head I turned back to the little kitten on my island.

When the little fella opened his eyes, he started to look around in a panic though somehow the kitten had managed to trip over his own feet and slide off the table onto the floor before I could catch him. "Are you okay? I hope you didn't hurt yourself too bad" He wasn't meowing so I knew the little one wasn't hurt but it was almost like he was looking for someone.

As I picked him up in my arms, he fought against me slightly though as my fingers ran through his fur it helped with calming down the kitten. "Looking for someone hon?" At first, I figured the little fella was looking for his Mother but I was shocked to hear what came out of his mouth. "Law... I must save Law... He's in danger"

"Who are you?" There was no logical explanation as to why this kitten would be talking about Law though I already had a house full of anime men so this could have been another one of them. "Oh, I can understand animals so please speak freely. I'm Ember"

"You may call me... Corazon or Rosinante. Corazon has always been easier for people to say though" This whole thing made no sense to me since this man had died a long time ago and his brother was currently sleeping upstairs. Sure, I understood the others but Corazon shouldn't have been here unless... the note. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Corazon. You don't need to worry about Law since he's actually in the next room with a few other people. Would you like to see him?"
