Author's POV

Emptiness.

This is what Mishka is feeling right now standing, seeing her mother go away in the holy fire. It's like her mother is taking away her soul with her, leaving an hollow body behind.

The awful hollowness, the waves of wretchedness threatened to engulf her mind, body and soul.

She is numb. She wants to cry but tears are not coming out, she wants to scream but her voice is somehow suppressed. She wants to bring back her parents and ask them, why they left her, wants to shout at them, scold them for doing such cruelty to her.

She was completely and utterly alone in her mind, body, soul, and most of all, entirely alone in the world.

She was alone.

Everyone is saying that her mother died in an accident as a drunk truck driver hit her when she was coming back from school but she knows it's not the truth. She knows that god is playing with her. They are punishing her for a sin she committed unknowingly.

Her eyesight blurred, but not because tears were welling up. Everything became fuzzy; then she saw nothing at all. Feeling in her body drained away until finally all was black.

Mishka's POV

Opening my eyes, the first thing came to my vision was the white ceiling. I looked around and saw everything white. Then I realised that I'm in a hospital room. There was even a drip attached to my right hand. What happened to me?

The door of the room opened and there entered a lady doctor.

"Oh, you're awake" she came near me. I nodded.

"Mishka, right?" I shook my head in yes "How are you feeling?" she asked smiling at me.

"I'm fine" my voice hoarse, I felt my throat dry. I pointed to the water placed on the table and sat on the bed. I'm feeling very thirsty.

"Oh yes!" she picked up the glass and handed it to me. "Have it" I drank the whole glass in one go, feeling much better.

"What happened to me?" I asked her.

"Nothing serious, you were dehydrated and you didn't even have food since yesterday. Am I right?" I nodded in yes. "But don't do this again because you really need to keep yourself healthy from now on. I know what happened to your mother but please don't ignore your health. Okay?"

"Yes Ma'am"

"And don't worry fainting is common in this condition"

"What condition?" I'm confused.

"You don't know?" she asked with a surprised expression.

"What I don't know?" What is she talking about?
