Chapter 06.

Maya Roy's POV

I had texted TMC a few days ago, but I still had gotten no response. 

"Maybe I am not cut out to join the community yet..." I frowned as I talked to myself. My father had brought the laptop home, and I had set my profile on discord. But, if there was no word from the community, what was the benefit of all this?

It was the beginning of the year and my school was shut down because of COVID-19. In the beginning, it seemed like a good thing, but now the cases were growing and everything was getting disturbed. We still had no word from the school and I wanted to keep it that way.

"Maya!" My sister's yelling pulled me out of my thoughts.

"What?!" I screeched back.

"Get your ass here!"

I sighed. I get no respect around here.

I walked towards her room. "What is it?" I asked.

"Some message from Wattpad. Have you been texting someone?" She asked skeptically.

"No," I said talking the phone, "It was just a community I wanted to join so I texted them." I open Wattpad and saw that TMC has finally texted me back!

You have been selected in our community, I see you have already filled the form. I will be sending you the link to our discord server shortly, then you can join us.

I squeaked in happiness. I got into a community, which meant that my story can get more views now. Now I just needed to wait for the discord link.

I woke up late the next day. It was no new thing for me. Last night, my book had reached a hundred views, which meant that I had rewarded myself with some chocolates. I had about 3 followers on Wattpad right now, that wasn't much but I hoped that I would get more.

After talking to my best friend for about half an hour, I checked Wattpad on the laptop. I couldn't get my hands on the phone because my sister was using it.

"Please tell me I got the link..." I mumbled to myself.

"Bingo!" I said when I found out that the link was sent to me. With one click on the link, discord opened and a drop box appeared. It asked if I wanted to join the community.

"Uh, yeah." I grunted as I clicked the 'yes' option.

A dark screen opened up and I read whatever was written on it. This was the community's server and the page I was reading was 'rules'. After reading it thoroughly, I understood that there must be an 'introduction channel' and I had to introduce myself. 

On going to that channel, I read some of the previous introductions given by the older members. I found so many people there, I wondered if I will be making any new friends. I had a good time reading those intros, specially one. The username of the person was 'TC_Liyanage' and I loved the way he/she had introduced himself/herself. Simple words, written in a beautiful manner. I took inspiration from that and began to write my own introduction.

The introduction required my name, age, country, genre of reading and writing, my work on Wattpad, and my Wattpad username. I also had to drop the link of my book in my introduction, so I opened Wattpad on another tab and clicked on the cover of my book. Then the dropbox with "copy link address' came up and I selected it. Then, going back on discord, I pasted the link I  had copied.

"Name, okay. Maya Roy. Age, I am 15, I mostly read and write fiction, my story is A Dream Comes True, and my Wattpad username is nothing special, just my name." I collected all this information about myself and started writing. After I was done, I read it again and again, just to make sure I had done everything right. You know what they say, the first impression is the last impression. Although I didn't think this saying was completely true, I had to keep it in mind.

I pressed 'enter' and the message was sent. My discord username was simply Maya too because I knew if I start thinking of cute and creative usernames, I will end up getting confused because I will have a lot of them.

Just then, a notification popped up on one of the channels, it was 'chit-chat'. I clicked on that channel and saw that someone had pinged my username. I saw a text from someone.

Ira: Hey Maya!Welcome to the community.

"Wow, people seem nice here, But its too soon to judge," I thought before replying.

Me: Thank you so much. I am looking forward to read and write with you. 😊

Ira: Me too. I see that you have given your introduction already. Have you read the rules?

Me: I have. I can't wait for the first activity.

Ira: That's great. Next week, you will be paired with a fellow writer and you have to read four chapters of his or her book. Then you will provide a detailed review of the chapters you read. Don't forget to use the hashtag of our community!

"Well, that is all pretty detailed. I hope I can keep up with the pace..." I said. After thinking something, I wrote,

Me: How much time will we get to finish the four chapters?

Ira: Two weeks. You must include something you liked, disliked, and some improvements.

There were bigger writers here, how will I tell them what to improve? But, without questioning much, I thanked her and started to explore the server.
