Is the COVID 19 part of the plague the book of Revelations warned us about? Are the African Swine Flu and the Bird Flu viruses part of the fourth seal mentioned in Revelations 6? Were the eruption of Taal and the earthquakes in Mindanao the signs that the end is near?
I have been meditating on Revelations lately. And I notice that the plagues and earthquakes were released when the Lamb broke the seals of the scroll that God was holding. Therefore, these calamities came from the Lord and not from His enemy the devil!
Were these calamities sent to kill all life on earth so that God can usher in the new heaven and the new earth He promised? The answer is, No! Revelations say that plagues were sent to make people repent from their wicked ways. I believe this is why God sent the plagues one at a time because He was hoping the people would learn from the first few. But when the wicked did not repent, He sent the next one to accomplish the same purpose.
Sino ba ang "wicked" na tao? For you to appreciate the term better, you need to take note of its root word. The root word is "wick," which is the twisted rope in the middle of the candle. A wicked person has a twisted mind, meaning may sira ang bait nya.
A wicked person is someone who knows that something is good for him, yet chooses to reject it. Di ba may sira ang bait ng taong ganito? A wicked person is someone who knows that while the Lord is loving yet He is just. He will bless those who obey Him but will punish those who sin.
But what is sin? I am learning that to sin is not just to violate the 10 commandments, but to disobey the instructions of the Lord. Because the word law in Hebrew is Torah, which means instructions. Therefore, when you do not rest your soil, nor pay your taxes, nor submit to authority, or when you defraud your brother, etc. you have sinned. You are wicked when you do these because you will invite trouble in your life.
A lot of people are waiting for God to establish a new heaven and a new earth. But what is delaying Him? I have been wondering about this for some time now. So I asked myself, "What will happen when the new heaven and the new earth come, pero disobedient pa din tayo?" Will we not destroy that heaven and that earth again?
Have we been the hindrance to the Lord's plans? Is it possible that God has been sending these plagues and earthquakes, to make us repent and turn from our wicked ways? So that He can finally make all things new?
