*Zeke's POV*

I sat beside the only window in my room and drew random symbols in my school book. My mind was blank and I couldn't do my maths homework.

As my pencil skimmed across the lined pages, it made scribbles that looked like Jacob's name. I sighed.

I have a major crush on a guy who probably doesn't even like guys. Great.

I was so confused about how I felt. It made my head spin and I knew I had to get out of my room to get some fresh air so I changed into some better clothes and headed to the door of our apartment.

"I'm going for a walk." I yelled out to anyone who cared and without anyone telling me I couldn't, I left.

Max was off at the movies with Jesse and Dad had to stay at work to finish of a job, leaving me at home with Mum. That's another reason why I had to get out of the 'house' I hated being alone with her.

I walked to the closest park and sat on the swing, gently swaying and thinking. It was about 4:00pm and I was surprised that there were no kids around playing on the equipment.

"How nice to see you here, Zeke." A familiar voice spoke, the way he spat out my name like it was poisonous made me uncomfortable. Slowly I turned around and not a second after got a punch in the face  making me fall off the swing.

"M-mit-mitchell.." I stuttered.

He smiled a devilish smile and goose bumps formed on the back of my neck.

His gang of about 13 boys surrounded me, leaving no escape.

This wasn't going to be pretty.

"Where's your gay pals?" Mitchell taunted as he stepped into the circle. His group automatically filled up the space he left.

"I-I'm alone." I wiped my cheek.

"I can see that. You should learn to stick with your queer buddies or are they too scared to fight like real men!!" I heard chuckles from all around the group as well as Mitchell. "You know, I never liked fags, as you can tell. Men should only be with girls, not fucking each other. You and your homos disgust me and I think its time that you learnt your lesson."

I gulped and tried to scurry away but it was too late. With a click of his fingers Mitchell's gang was attacking me like piranhas. Punches and kicks were aimed at me and I was soon bleeding from my nose and mouth. It was a frenzied attack and I couldn't do anything but curl up and take the blows. The pain was horrifying and I felt like bones were being broken as some of them started stomping on me.

"Get the fuck off him!!" Someone yelled and there was someone else pushing into the group. I stayed perfectly still, not looking up but holding my arms over my head.

Suddenly there were sirens that sounded nearby.

"The Coppers are coming! Get away!" As quickly as they started throwing hits, they were gone.

"Oh god..." someone grabbed me and held me close to him. "I'm so sorry" he whimpered and I looked up to see Jacob.

He was here. And I was in his arms.

I took a deep breath "Ah fuck" I cried out. Something was definitely broken.

"Where are you hurt Zeke?" He sounded so vulnerable, so broken.

"Everywhere." Was all I could say.

"I'm sorry." He kissed my head. "I'll kill him next time I see him, no one hurts my Zeke!"

I would've smiled and jumped for joy if I didn't feel so much pain inside my body.

"I have to get you to a hospital. You're badly hurt."

"The hospital is too far. Call Max." I dug my phone out of my pocket and opened it, giving it to Jacob.

A few minutes later and Max had arrived with Jesse. He was so frantic to get me that he had almost crashed into the barriers that surrounded the park. Jesse seemed to struggle to keep up to him as he practically sprinted over to us.

After that it didn't take long before I was in Max's car, with Jacob and Jesse going to the hospital.

"Max slow down!! You're going to kill us all before we can even get to the hospital!!" Jesse yelled. I hadn't known him long but judging by the slightly surprised reaction from Max, it wasn't a regular thing for Jesse to yell.
