Life in the Maze

Chapter One

I lay on the cold metal floor i'm sorta awake but not really. The only thing i can remember is that my name is Sage. It was dark with a clatter and a jolt the shaft stops moving. Then there was a bright light and someone jumped down. He said "Alby its a girl!" The voice with a Asian accent. I sat up a little the Boy said "She seems to be awake!" I say "I am awake." I stood up Quickly and he looked at me and said "Well lets get up there you need help?" I laughed and said "Pft yeah ok" with sarcasm i took the rope in both hand s and hoisted my self up. I climbed up I look around and theres this Giant Stone wall all around the whole land. With four Exits i stood there and a boy with dark skin walks up and says. "I'm Alby who are you?" I say "Sage..." i mumbled He said "Well nice to meet ya Greenie." I raised my eyebrow and said "Greenie? What the hell does that mean?" Then i heard a scotch accent say "It means your A Bugn' newbie." I turn to face the voice he said "I'm Newt." I sigh and say "i'm Sage" I do this little ackwrad wave thing. Then Alby said "whats that written on your arm?" I look down and say "wha-what?" Newt took my arm and said "no way..." Alby said "What does it say?" He looked up at him and said "It just has one word on it it says Newt." I stood there gawking at the markings. I look up at them and say "h-how is that possible?" The Asian guy said "it must've been the Shucken' creators!" I gave him a odd look and Newt said "Minho you freaking the poor girl out!" I shrug and say "nah i'm good" They all look at me like there shocked. I look around and said "What?" Minho said "Nothing...Alby lets show her around." I nod and fallow i stand there and i fallow Alby. He said "So Sage right?" I nod and say "Yep" He said "well then welcome to the Glade." I look around and say "Looks more like a perison yard." Minho laughed and said "heh I like this shank." Shank? What the fuck? Ah whatever Alby said "heh that might be what it is." I look around all four sides there is an exit with Spikes on the left side of the wall. Alby said "thats the Maze" i said "Maze? On all four sides?" He nods and says "Yeah..." i tilted my head and said "Thats Wried" Alby said "its Dangerous out there though." I turn and looked at him and said "How so?" Minho said "Because of the Shuckn' Grievers thats why." Newt said "You see Sage there these Big ugly machnicle type beasts." I nod and say "huh..." Newt said "but don't worry they only come out at night and the walls close at night." I rase an Eyebrow and say "Huh? How is that even possible? Its like say your going to move a Moutan." Newt shrugged and said "it sounds impossible but its not." I said "Mkay,well Maybe its not a wall but a door, the part that closes anyway." Newt and Minho gave me a odd look. Alby said "but i wonder Why they sent you we just got a Greenie." I shrug and say "who knows" then a boy with Black hair came running up Alby said "there he is now..." The boy said "hey guys" He looked at them he said "I'm Thomas." he held out his hand i took it and said "I'm Sage." I smile a little Alby said "Newt show Sage around." Newt said "alright" he titled his head and said "C'mon" Alby Thomas & Minho walked away. I fallowed Newt "Over there is the Homestead but most of us sleep outside on the ground." I nod and say "Yeah...I probably would too." He laughed and said "Heh well there's the Slater house ew...Cow guts and nasty klunk." Klunk? What the hell? I nod again he said "And over there are the Gardens..." I look over and i see Minho running into the Maze. I bit my lip and Newt said "He's a runner they go out into the Maze everyday to see if they can find a way out." I sigh and say "Oh....thats....well" Newt laughed and said "The Maze isn't safe they have theses Slugish type robot thing we call em Grievers, Nasty ole buggers." I laugh a little and say "How do they become runners?" Newt looked at me and said "there the Best of the Best Sage they know how to map thing and draw thing s out...I use to be one before i bummed my buggin' leg." He smiled at me and said "Over there Is the kitchen Bet you could cook better than frypans ole nasty slop." I laugh and say "well i dunno about that..." i move my hair out of my face. He smiled at me and said "so what do you think this is all about?" He picked up my wrist and pointed to his name. I shrug and say "i have no idea..." I look at it he looked at me and said "Well whatever it is....it has to mean that...." I knew what he was thinking "that were sapouse to..." Newt nodded "yeah" He smiled and he said "but don't worry i wont force you to do anything." I smiled and said "your so sweet" i laugh a little. He blushed a little and said "yeah w-well..." I tousled his hair and he smiled at me.
