This Is Family (ON HOLD)

Chapter three. Three Weeks Later

The library was packed. Wait what? It was job career day. 

when I walk in I see her. Meg, from book club.

I bumped into her, meaning to but she doesn't know that.

''I'm so sorry,'' I said, ''Oh, your Meg right?''

''Yeah. Anyway it's okay.'' She starts to walk off.

''Wait,'' I said, ''Can we hang out sometime?'' Not sure why I just asked her that.

''I'm sorry,'' She said, ''I'm kinda in a hurry. I'm going to...church.''

''At 11 on a Tuesday.'' I said, ''I call BS.''

''Okay, Your right.'' Meg said, ''but i have to go to church tomorrow. So it's not really a lie.''

''Can I come with?'' Izzy asked, with a big smile on my face.

''My church doesn't really like gay people.''

''How do you know I'm gay?'' I say as if I didn't make a fool out of myself a few weeks ago.

''I didn't,"' She plays along. ''I just hoped.''

I know I have the goofiest smile on right now.

''Lets go.'' Meg said.

''Where to?'' I asked.

''Well I got to know you a little bit before I take you to church,'' She said. ''So lunch.''

I follow her out of the library to her car.

''Nice car.'' I said, it was a pink jeep with pink wheels.

''Thanks.'' Meg said. ''Her name is Sexy.''

"Hi Sexy." I did a little wave to the car.

Meg looks at me. "I like being called beautiful, at least for the first few dates."

I started blushing instantly. 

''Where do you want to go?'' She asked. Ignoring how red I was.

''No where far.'' I tell her.

''Taco Bell?''

''I had tacos last night.'' I said, as if Taco Bell was real tacos.

''Pizza?'' She asked.

"I hate pizza."

Meg signs. "Okay, you pick then"

"I'm kidding. I love pizza." This is gonna me a long day.

"Bob's pizza?"

Bob's pizza is the best but I don't have to tell Meg that.

"I love pizza. I been coming here since I was little." She said, pulling in.

"Hawaiian pizza is the best." Izzy said.

"I never had it."

"What? We have to get it." I said while walking in.

So we order are pizza and get are drinks. All the seats have rips in them. So we pick the chairs closest to the television. Meg keeps looking at me.

"What's up?" I asked. Feeling very self conscious. I started having a problem with my breathing.

"I can't stop looking at that freckle on your nose." Meg told me.

"Oh, thanks." I said, feeling kinda awkward. This is my first date, is this a date? Honestly I'm not sure but I'm gonna act as if it was.

"Do you play any sports?" Meg asked.

"I like walking, what about you?"

"No," she shakes her head, "I mean I love messing around in PE but that's it." I nod as if I been to PE. I never been on any type of team and the only club I been in is book club.

She takes a sip of her drink, watching golf that's on the TV. I look at her lips then feel really weird for doing so. They are nice lips, I never really thought about lips in the past I guess. I also never been kissed, but if I knew what I was doing I probably would kiss her thousands of times. If this a beginning of a relationship, then maybe someday I will.

The guy with the pizza has came and went but neither of us moved.

I took a deep breath and then Meg got up and sat down beside me.

"What are you doing?" Izzy asked Meg.

"I'm going to kiss you," She said. "Not a thousand times but still." I start laughing, not realizing that I said that out loud.

I was still laughing when Meg put her lips on mine. She reminds me of a sunset, bight and beautiful. 

Then she pulled away.

"Let's eat."
