❝ Gosh, Jangmi, it's so hard to hangout with you these days. ❞ Heeseung, dressed in a tuxedo, whispered into Jangmi's ears, to which the younger smirked at.

❝ Tell me about it. It's you who's packed with so many missions. Do you even have time for university life and yourself? ❞ Growing a concerned look on her face, Jangmi crossed her arms. The taller guy patted her gently on the head so it wouldn't ruin her hairstyle.

The two friends were at an evening party, held by a famous jewelry brand owner in Seoul. Specifically, it was Heeseung who got invited and his special plus one who he invited to finally spend some time with. He was booked with overseas missions while Jangmi was stuck with dealing with her last mission: Sim Jake in South Korea.

❝ University was never that important to me. I'm just maintaining a profile for father so others wouldn't judge his heir, you know? And to add to that, Beomgyu and Chenle are surprisingly doing a good job in helping our alliance with NCT. ❞

The mentioned two were the only guy friends Jangmi would hear from Heeseung from time to time. ❝ It's good to know you have some company at least,❞ Jangmi picked her champagne glass up while speaking.

❝ You know that they'll never be a company as good as you though. The wits are best coming from you. ❞ Hee clinked their glasses together before taking a sip. Jangmi felt flattered since her senior hasn't changed ever since she first got to know him. He was always welcoming towards her and she really felt grateful for it. This whole love mission thingy was rather boring for Jangmi since she was used to spying and stealing illegal information together with her senior.

❝ I'll go to the restroom for a while. ❞

She excused herself to re-do her makeup but she was distracted by someone else awaiting for her outside the hall. 

❝ Jake? You're also here? ❞ Jangmi sounded a bit too happy calling his name, to her unknown feelings' realization. Maybe because he's a familiar face for her.

Jake was already greeting her with a beaming smile before calling her name. Destiny did bring these two close to each other despite their location.

❝ It's fancy seeing you here, Park Jangmi. ❞ The curtain haircut was looking more exquisite on the Sim today, together with the gentle gaze in his twinkling eyes when he spotted his new friend. The suit fit his body proportions perfectly. Peeps from their university would swoon over his look right now if they could see him.

❝ I should be saying the same. ❞ It was now the girl's time to put a good impression on Jake. She fixed her off-shoulder white cocktail dress and tucked a strand behind her ear. Her lipstick was a bit faint but the burgundy red made her features and make up stand out.

Jake was unsure if it was too early for compliments in their friendship in process but he figured that a little bit of truthful remarking wouldn't hurt. ❝ You look great, by the way. ❞ He tried his best to sound genuine with no other intentions. Jangmi smirked to herself, loving how her charm worked well on him too.

❝ You look dignified as well, Mr. Sim. ❞

The two university students couldn't help but break their character.

❝ Wanna have some fresh air? ❞ The boy led them to one of the balconies in the huge mansion. It was on top of some hill so the city lights of Seoul was captivating to be gazed upon. Jangmi was freezing. Had she known the night's breeze would be shivering, she wouldn't have worn an off-shoulder dress.

Jake, being the gentleman he is, took off his blazer and put it over Jangmi's shoulders to prevent her from the cold. Was he always this sweet? Jangmi didn't dare herself to find out. If she did, she feared that she would be addicted to his sweetness.

She was busy blushing that she couldn't scan Jake who just faced the city lights while leaning against the border.

❝ I never knew you were close with ACE's Heeseung to make him your plus one. ❞

Jake's way of initiating a conversation was random but Jangmi responded almost immediately.

❝ Oh no, I'm actually his plus one, ❞ she explained with a plain smile.

There was this tension when Jake turned his head around to look at Jangmi in the eye after what she said.

❝ So, you two are close, huh? ❞ he asked, deadpan.

It wasn't like any other time when he inquired to know something about her. There was this seriousness in his tone that fazed Jangmi. Then, she finally took the hint.

❝ NOT in the way you might be thinking, ❞ she emphasized on her first word, finally making Jake replace a smile on his thin line drawn by sealed lips.

The young boy chuckled, ❝ In what way do you think I'm thinking? Hm? ❞

Jangmi sarcastically faked a laugh, ❝ He's just a close cousin of mine. ❞

Jake's lips formed into an o shape.

❝ For a second, I thought you already got over your first love thanks to ACE's Heeseung. ❞

For some reasons, Jangmi saw his face expression turn into a relieved one.

❝ HEY! Can we not talk about that? ❞ The girl cried dramatically while stomping and covering her face in embarrassment. She still couldn't believe she showed how down bad she was for Mingyu in front of Jake Sim out of all people.

❝ Hahaha, are you embarrassed or something? ❞

The two was busy teasing and throwing playful glares at each other to realize a pair of eyes staring at them from a distance.

Heeseung's hand formed into a fist, distraught at the sight of another guy being so close and acting nice to his first love.

He could just have them on his watch without being able to do anything.

If he stepped into the scene now, Jangmi's plan on succeeding her mission will be ruined.

Still, jealousy was killing him inside to see someone earning Jangmi's attention and laughter effortlessly.
