"Welcome all dragons to today's unexpected event!" boomed a voice. Lavender blinked away a very uncomfortable sleep and a headache.

He looked around.

All around him he saw dragons. Mainly fire but... he realized where he was now- The Stadium.

He looked down at his talons tail, and wings- his talons were bound by clamps that were hooked to chains that were clipped into the stadium floor with fire. His tail was also bound, but not linked to the ground with chains like his talons. And finally his wings, they were the only things that weren't chained or bound, but Lavender knew that no matter how hard he beat them, he would stay put on the ground.

Lavender tried to call to the dragons sitting on the benches around the stadium to ask what was happening, but soon realized that his mouth was also clamped shut as well so he couldn't talk.

"Today Lavander the dragon of Night Dragons will enter his trial where he has a chance to prove himself innocent. Shadowhunter of the Night Dragons claims that Lavender has been hunting in his reserved hunting area. Shadowhunter paid to have a spot reserved for his hunting- and his hunting alone. Hunting in a part of the hunting grounds that isn't yours is considered trespassing, and that will not be tolerated. Lavender, do you deny that any of this is true?"

How am I supposed to answer that? Lavender thought, my mouth is bound!

Then Lavender realized that an armored Fire dragon was walking towards him, carrying a ring of keys that he used to unlock the lock on the clamp. As soon as the lock unlocked and the clamp fell off his snout, Lavender yelled to all the other dragons watching the trial.

"Listen! All of you! Shadowhunter is a fool! He is a lying fool! He claims that I threatened him by stealing food! But did anyone take into consideration that it could have just been the other Night dragon who lives among us- Feathershard? She has always said that the true nature of her kind was to steal what they think is going to help them live no matter what the consequences. She's the one who thinks that the ancients chose to lead dragonkind wrong! She feels it would have been better if things hadn-"

"FOOL?!" bellowed Shadowhunter, "you DARE call me a FOOL?!"

"Because I speak the truth, then yes."

Black smoke was rising from the Night dragon's mouth and nostrils which were flaring. Lavender glanced up at a balcony to see Prince Flameley who was looking down at everything with an expression that he couldn't read. He looked at the crowd who seemed to be in a shocked silence.

He finally looked around the arena walls and to his dismay he saw two guards holding Crystal back while Wavecrusher tried to clear things up.

"She's with me," he said.

"And who are you," a deep red guard said.

"The head fisher," Wavecrusher answered with slitted eyes.

Both the guards huffed and let Crystal go, and soon realized that it was a big mistake to do so. She ran out onto the open stadium and started spitting bits of sharp ice onto the clamps binding Lavender.

"Are you all right," she said between spitting ice, "how's your head?"

"I'm fine," Lavender answered, wincing as a tiny splinter of ice hit his scales. "I'm just confused that's all."

"I'll tell you everything later but right now we have to get you out of here." with that Crystal launched herself into the sky where she darted over to Prince Flamehley's balcony.

He couldn't hear what she was saying because she was talking to Flamehley up in the sky probably very quietly. Lavender saw Flamehley nod and shake his head a couple of times, and when Crystal flew down to him again she had a grim expression on her face.
