It was late in the afternoon and a crowd of elves stood in front of their chairs in rows. A soft flute played as Thranduil, prince of Mirkwood, stood at the altar. The air was clear and the sky was fading into a pastel blue. The grass was still glowing bright green as the setting sun shone on it, making the clover flowers glow and the colourful butterflies dancing around their feet shimmer.
He felt a nudge from the young guard standing next to him and turned to see the most beautiful thing he thought could ever walk the earth. Sophia. She walked down the grassy isle in a dress that shimmered and sparkled in the afternoon sun. Flowers cascaded down her long flowing blonde hair and the tiara that Thranduil made for her sat gently on her head. Her bare feet walked along the grass as butterflies danced around her and she made her way towards the man she had grown up with and grown to love.
"You look beautiful. Not that you don't always look beautiful."
Thranduil mumbled.
"Shhh."
Sophia giggled.
The two elves said their vows and kissed. They danced and ate cake just like they did when they were young, and they were happy. As night fell a bonfire was lit and the elves danced around it and sang, celebrating the newlyweds.
As the night went on the fire raged and people drank non-stop; the Mirkwood elves knew how to throw a party.
Thranduil led Sophia away from the main party and drunk men trying to dance with her.
"Thanks for saving Me." she laughed.
"Some of those men really need a dance lesson or two."
Thranduil laughed, and agreed.
"Can I say something?"
Thranduil asked a little shyly.
"Of course, Thran."
"I love you. And I will love you until the end of time."
Sophia blushed, and was glad that it was dark so that Thranduil couldn't see.
"I feel the same." She said simply.
The two elves climbed up a tree and sat and looked at the full moon. They carved into the trunk, out lines of their two hands on top of each other.
"Now this tree holds a memory too."
Thranduil said as he took Sophia's hand and held it in his. Silhouetted against the bright moon two elves shared a kiss.
