Thranduil stood in the throne room, meeting his fiancé for the first time. She was from Rivendel and although he didn't like to admit it, she was quite beautiful.
"So, Thranduil, son of Oropher. I would first like to extend my humblest of apologies and well wishes towards the death of your father."
This man even though an elf; who are known for their well-mannered and kind disposition, was an absolutely horrible man. He seemed like the kind of person who got what they wanted no matter what the price, even his own daughter it seemed.
"This is my daughter, Meriwen. I understand she is to be married to you."
Thranduil was silent.
"Where is your mother may I ask?"
"Guards. Please get the queen."
Thranduil asked solemnly.
The queen arrived and curtsied towards the guests.
"Good evening my queen."
The evil man said with lust in his voice.
"I am here to discuss the betrothal of my daughter. She has voiced her opinion on the matter and, unfortunately, it appears she does not want to marry your, fine, young son."
"Well now that is a coincidence, because as it happens my son, and I must say, myself even, are not too keen on the idea either. It appears we have a problem."
Sophia stood at the side doors listening in to the conversation and was overjoyed to hear that the queen did not want her son marrying by force.
"What do you mean you do not want your son to be married?"
The man's voice changed suddenly into a fierce rage.
"I simply mean what I said. I do not want my son marrying out of force."
"I was promised jewels! And gold!"
"My husband promised you that, and in case you haven't noticed my husband is dead. I rule this kingdom now and I have the right to break that promise. So consider it broken."
The man made a move to lash out at the queen but the guards held him back.
"Away with you. You are banished from these lands."
The queen ended the meeting.
As soon as the man was escorted away from the hall, Sophia ran in and hugged Thranduil.
"Thankyou my queen!"
Sophia said gratefully.
"Thranduil, you shall chose a day to hold the ceremony."
The queen said to Thranduil.
"What ceremony?"
Sophia asked confused.
"Tomorrow. I chose tomorrow."
Thranduil said teasing Sophia, waiting until the last minute to tell her.
"What's happening tomorrow?"
Sophia was getting annoyed and seeing Thranduil smile at her, teasing her, she was even more annoyed.
"Our wedding! And you call me dim!"
He laughed at her as she squealed in delight but his laughter was quickly silenced by her suddenly kissing him.
The queen laughed and called the maids and cooks to prepare everything.
The two elves, still hugging, looked up at their queen and mother.
"It's time to write your own love story."
She smiled at them and then sent Thranduil away to be fitted with robes and she took Sophia away to prepare her dress.
