The one who does notice, is Pepper, ever the observant mother figure "What happened young lady?" she asks "Ah I woke up last night and tripped over the blanket, my knee hit the corner of the chair" Skylar says, it had happened before "I thought you were passed the clumsy fase" Tony says "I was tired, I usually sleep in my room, which is a lot more organized". Peter walks in rubbing his head "Fell out of bed" he says "Peter, can you do something for me?" Tony asks "Sure, what is it?" Peter asks as he sits down "I need you to start a rumor" Tony explains "What? People still don't realize it?" Peter asks "Just do it" "How'd you figure it out?" Skylar asks "You disappear after your mother dies in a car crash, years later you show up at my school, with Happy as driver, with Pepper's last name. That's suspicious, next the first person you hug as soon as they leave the jet is not Black Widow, who was apparently missing, but Tony" Peter explains "So for anyone who knew you before you disappeared will figure it out, which is really only me. But I will start a rumor".
At school Skylar is late with lunch "Hey Sky, did you realize that Tony has a kid?" Ned asks "Ned!" Peter hisses, although really, getting the attention of the table nearby is the plan "No, he never talks about it" Skylar says sitting next to MJ "I heard it last night, after you two left and Sky went to the med bay, Pepper and Tony were talking about it" "But they were in the garage" Skylar says "Yeah I was exploring the tower when I heard Jarvis announce Pepper returned, so I wanted to ask if those two got home safely" Peter says. "You're lying" Flash says "I'm not, here" Peter says playing a recording on his phone and sure enough that are Pepper and Tony, talking about Tony's biological child, the conversation actually took place that morning before Pepper brought them to school, but still in the garage.
The rumor spreads like wildfire throughout the school and kids tell their parents etcetra, Tony's plan works and soon enough it's swamped with press outside the tower, so Skylar took a bag and stayed at Peter's place. Life continues, both Shade and Spiderman continuing their patrols, at one point Sky is actually awake when Peter comes back and she just shakes her head while activating her suit, no words needed there, it's not a conversation they'll be having at all.
When the press moves to the school they have to close it "We need to tell them Tony" Pepper says "Sky says they had to close the school because they couldn't get any work done" "They can't stay stuck on it forever" Tony points out "They can and they will" Sky says climbing through the window "Okay Peter, I'm in, what do you need?" she says "Just bring your toolbox" Peter says "How am I supposed to get that down?" she asks "Why do you need it?" Pepper asks "His computer broke and I lost my laptop charger" Skylar says moving to her room. She runs into Wanda "Is Pietro here?" "No, my brother is at the store" Wanda says "Damn, if he comes back within five minute can you send him to my room?" Skylar asks earning a nod. "I heard you had trouble with getting out" Pietro says "Yes, I need to get my toolbox and spare charger to Peter's house" Skylar says "Or at least, far enough away from here for me to walk the rest" "I can do that, come on".
Back at May's apartment Peter gets to fixing his computer while Skylar tinkers with her suit after plugging in her laptop "Screwdriver" she says holding our her hand "I'm almost done, Jarvis can do the rest after this" she says "I though mister Stark lost Jarvis" "He did, but not before putting a fraction in my watch, no I'm not sharing" she says while handing the screwdriver back "Okay there, Jarvis, can you run a diagnostics check on the suit?" "Everything is functional" Jarvis says "Thank you, should I tell Tony about the nanotech I stole from those guys?" "I don't recommend it since you used it all up to build your suit" Jarvis points out "Okay small tests" Peter says sitting on his bed, well Skylar used most of the times, but it's still his.
The tests prove succesfull and the suit is gone when May knocks "Dinner's ready" she says. Patrol is... boring, to be expected, but they run into Iron Man, well Shade flies into him and she accepts Spiderman's help when he offers his hand "Your suit is-" Iron Man doesn't finish his sentence when the part that was broken gets fixed "Interesting" he says "What kind of technology is that?" "Nano tech" Shade mumbles "Spidey remind me when we're finished that I need to make it sturdier" "Nano tech?" Iron Man asks earning a nod "I may have stolen it a week ago from people who were trying to make it into a weapon of mass destruction" she explains "It looks like there could be some improvements kid, want me to look at it?" "Oh no, you don't have to, I'll figure it out".
Peter chuckles when they arrive back "He's good at persuading" he says earning a nod "Yes, but if he ever finds out..." "I know". The next day they can finally go back to school in peace, but on the way back Peter's spidey sense is going off like crazy, so he drags them into an alleyway and hides between two dumpers "Whatever happens, don't move" he whispers coming from their hiding place. Skylar runs after him when she hears someone knock him out cold, but she can't stop a car on foot "Jarvis" she says "On it miss, should I call Happy to pick you up?" "I'm fine" she says "A full scan indicates you have an injury located at you right side" Jarvis says "Call Tony" she says leaning against the wall of the alley "They must've shot at us" "That would explain why you were suddenly pulled into an alley" "Jar, my head feels... weird" she mumbles before she slides down "I don't recommend falling asleep" Jarvis says "Noted".
Tony, sorry, Iron Man arrives and he crouches down "Friday?" he asks "She lost a lot of blood, you need to get her to the tower as soon as possible" the AI answers so Tony picks up his daughter "Stay with me kid" he says and he flies off, he has no idea where Peter is, since he didn't leave Skylar alone unless he had a very very good reason, especially if she's injured this badly. "Friday, update" he says when he arrives "The bleeding appears to have slowed, there doesn't appear to be a bullet in the wound" "Tony what happened?" Steve asks "You left in the middle of- oh, I'll take her to the medbay" he says so Tony hands his daughter over to Steve, who runs off.
