Eva's POV
The evening is going amazingly so far! The paella tasted like heaven! The Cliff restaurant truly has the best mojitos in Vegas! I can't stop myself from keeping them flowing in my mouth, but I have to remain aware of every single one of my movements. The last thing I want is to say the wrong thing or worse, touch him in all the wrong places.
I take a deep breath and prepared myself for a little distraction. I always love to play a game of questions when on a first date. It helps me relax and more importantly, it is a great way to know my date better. You'll be surprised to realise how much insight the silliest little mundane questions can reveal about someone.
"I have an idea."
"I'm all ears."
"How about we play a game?"
He looks at me with a curious twinkle of bewilderment in his eyes.
"12 questions."
"So like 21 questions?"
"Yes but nothing deep or dark. Let's keep as simple and straight to the point as possible."
He nods with deep interest. "I'm assuming that we get to take turns?"
"Well of course!" I exclaim.
"So who should start first?"
"Beauty before rank" Aw. How sweet.
"What is your full name?"
"Kristian ... My turn"
"What is your last name and how old are you?"
"Rice. And I'm 25. How about you?"
"27. Any significant other back home?"
"Nope!" I replied without hesitation. "My turn, Kristian! What is your favorite book?"
"The Black Tulip by Alexandre Dumas pere. It's an old book!"
"I know, read it but my favorite from him is The Count of Monte Cristo."
"Wow! A woman after my own heart! I'm next! What is the funniest way you've ever approached someone?"
"Tough one Kris! Let me think... I purposely spilled chocolate mousse on someone I had a crush on just to initiate a conversation..."
"Did it work?"
"Oh yes! I successfully convinced him to lose his shirt... it was a hot summer!"
"Very creative Eva! Shoot me another question"
"If you could change anything about your life, what would it be?" I pose.
He pauses to think, and then slowly opens his mouth. "Hmmm..." I wish I was more rebellious when I was younger... Like I wish that I listened to people less..." He reads my face for a reaction. "I'm sorry, was that too dark and deep?"
He sounds like he's a goodie-two-shoes gone wild. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I'm gonna keep that thought to myself. "No." I say. "Not at all." "How about you?" he counter-asks. "I would probably say I wish I was the Moon Goddess herself! Yes! I know it's way out there! But that's the first answer that flashed through my mind."
I swear to the moon goddess herself that amber sparks flew from his pupils. I blink several times to ensure that I did not just hallucinate that, but apparently, I am not. I intently look at him, trying to figure out what kind of wolf he is.
"What do you enjoy doing alone?" He hurriedly asks.
I feel the power of his voice vibrate on my cheekbones. Luckily I already have an answer prepared for this one. "I love a good bubble bath. Especially when there's lavender soap involved. Yourself?"
