1978-1983 Toyota Hilux (N30,N40)

This redesign was a minor one but made a big difference. The first thing they changed was size the gen of Hilux was wider because they used the chassis from the Land Cruiser. They also added a 4-door version of the truck. The front end was redesigned by adding round headlights. The was the first year Toyota added a diesel into the engine lineup for the truck. The added a few more engine options to make it a total of 6 options.

1.8L Preflow 3T I4 (81-83) - 70hp and 93lb-ft of torque (Australia only)
2.0L 18R SOHC I4 (78-83) - 108hp and 112lb-ft of torque (Europe only)
2.2L 20R SOHC I4 (78-80) - 90hp and 122lb-ft of torque
2.4L 22R SOHC I4 (81-83) - 97hp and 128lb-ft of torque
- Diesel
2.2L L I4 (79-83) - 71hp and 105lb-ft of torque (sold globally but only available in the US in the LongBed version)
