Somehow, even in the most uneven of times, Jimin is still bored.
Between his friends, he felt like he was neutral. He barely knew Yoongi, and he had to trust the words of his boyfriend to some extent. It was hard for him to form an opinion based solely on words. He was taught to do the opposite, and that earned him Taehyung. He just wanted all of this to be over.
Maybe Seokjin just missed a page in a chapter. Jimin wouldn't know. He has a different book.
A sketchbook.
That would always remind him of Taehyung.
While he was seemingly zoning out, someone had entered the cafe. It was Jungkook. Jimin almost forgot about him after two weeks of nothing.
His mind then switched the topic over to Jungkook. How his eyes resembled ones from a deer. How he was shaped to look like a dancer. Perhaps he is. Jimin would have to ask. He looked like a sculpture. Not one that brags, but one that people notice even if it says nothing.
"Umm... Jimin-ssi...?"
"Are you single?"
Jungkook's face turned red the moment the question ended. "Umm... I- Uhm..."
Jimin then ticked back into reality and cringed slightly at what he just said. "Oh. I didn't mean to say that. I mean-!"
He couldn't come up with an excuse, and Jungkook couldn't come up with a way to say it's alright. Because to him, it wasn't. Now both of them were trapped in their own awkwardness.
Jimin cleared his throat. "So, uh, what would you like to order?"
Jungkook blinked a few times before processing the question. "Just a banana milkshake."
"Here or to go?"
"To go."
"Okie dokie!" Jimin cheerfully exclaimed, checking the price on the cash register. "That'll be 6,100 won."
When the younger paid, Jimin put the money in the cash register and began to work on the drink.
"How have you been, Kookie?" Jimin asked, not noticing Jungkook blush slightly at the nickname. "We haven't seen each other in forever! Can you believe it?"
Jungkook awkwardly shuffled his legs while looking down. "I've been fine, I guess."
"That's good to hear." He said. "Are you in school?"
There was slight hesitation before Jungkook replied. "Yeah. I'm a senior in high school."
"Ooo. Have anything planned for college?" Jimin asked. "I'm hoping to get a major in dance, as an example."
Jungkook then started to get nervous. What if he thought it was weird? What if he doesn't think that he should pursue it? What if he kicks him out of the cafe because he has a weird major? Anything could happen, and he didn't want any of those results.
Jimin turned around to look at him after a while with no reply. He then noticed Jungkook's worried look. He gave him a smile in hopes to comfort him.
"It's alright." Jimin reassured him. "I won't be disappointed or anything, if that's what you're worried about. If it helps, Seokjin hyung's major is in performing arts, Namjoon hyung's is in literature, and Taehyung's is in painting. No need to feel like an outcast."
"Oh..." His words helped slightly, but not enough for him to be able to talk fluently. "I'm, uh... hoping to take... illustration...?"
"Illustration?" Jimin asked in surprise just before the blender started.
That gave Jungkook's anxiety some time to creep over him like the shadow of an awakening dragon.
Once the blender stopped, Jimin went to fetch a cup. "That's so cool! You and Taehyung must get along really well."
Ever so slightly, some of it went away. "Yeah... I guess so."
Jimin slid the filled cup over to Jungkook. "It was nice chatting with you again."
Jungkook grabbed the cup and looked down at it. "You too."
"Oh wait!" Jimin exclaimed. "You never got to answer my question."
"What?"
"Are you single?"
His heart once again went up to his throat. "Uhm... yeah. Yeah."
Jimin reached over the counter and booped his nose. "That's good."
"Huh?"
"Have a nice day, Kookie!"
Jungkook left with confusion tracing each of his steps. It wasn't hard for him to admit that this day won't leave his memory.
