Kaeya | The Warmth Frost Brings

Frosted slimes began to roam the stone paths of Mondstadt. Their frost was spreading quick on the walls and people were slamming their doors shut, in hopes of said slimes not reaching them.

The Knights of Favonius were out and about, defending the city as much as they could. It was abnormal for the slimes to invade inside the walls, nonetheless be found in such a big number. 

Even Kaeya was at the frontlines, wondering how many slimes he's killed by now. 20? 30? But he couldn't defend any longer, he had to go find you. He knew you were terrified of slimes, which is why he always accompanied you in the wilderness. 

Once the last slime fell to his blade, he ran in the direction of the fountain, where he knew you were waiting for him. But would he make it in time? As he ran, he paid no attention to the slimes that came toward him. He couldn't delay any longer.

After the many flights of stairs, his heart dropped at the sight of you. The frosted slimes had backed you up towards the edge of the fountain. One false move and..

"[Y/n]! I'm right here!" He shouted for your attention, hoping some of your fear would subside. But his words only startled you. 

Instant regret.

You had lost your footing, and faced the consequence. At the same time, Kaeya swung his sword down with all his might, throwing the slimes off the ledge. 

His sword was dropped to the ground as he lifted you up from the freezing water of the fountain. Ice covered your body and frost bite was patterned on your skin. He needed to get you to a warm place, and quick.

"She's no longer unconscious, just sleeping now." The nurse bowed before she walked out the door, and as it shut, the tears brimmed on Kaeya's eyes fell. He kept beating himself over the fact that he couldn't rescue you in time. 

He glanced at your sleeping form, making sure the blanket covered you.

Unconsciously, his hand moved to your cheek, caressing it softly. He always wondered what it'd be like to hold you in his arms. But the two of you weren't dating, which made the slime infestation anger him even more.

He finally finished all his work as Calvary Captain and was looking forward to spending time with you today. 

You shivered on the bed, making an unpleasant face. Though the frost was fading, the warmth of the blanket was not enough. Times like these, Kaeya wished fire was his element. But now was not the time to think such thoughts, he had to do something to make you warmer. 

There weren't any blankets nearby, and going to retrieve one would take too long. He could fetch someone with a fire element, but that would take too long as well.

Then, an idea popped up.

If he went along with it, he would have a lot of explaining to do once you woke up. But he didn't have much of a choice, did he? The quickest way to warm you up would be through his body heat. 

You continued to quiver in your sleep, and Kaeya made up his mind. He stripped of his uniform, placing it neatly on a bedside counter. 

Slowly, he raised the blanket and got into bed, facing you. Instantly, he noticed how cold you had been and he slithered his arm to your back, pulling you in closer. The whole time, he was stiff. You two had never been so.. intimately close. 

He could hear his heart pumping, afraid it would wake you up. But as the expression of your face softened, his nerves calmed and he continued to snuggle you up to his chest. At this point, you had placed your hand on his bare chest, basking in the warmth. The sudden action bringing his nerves back. Though, they subsided once again once he got comfortable with you.

He stared out a window, then back to you. He had wished he could live this day for the rest of his life. But for now, he could only enjoy the moment.
