Daryl had calmed Tegan down enough to where they could get their small group together and start heading out. He helped his wife put on some armor the king let them have. They were all wearing a set.
"Daryl, I swear to god, when I find that bitch I'm going to kill her," Tegan told him as she tightened the straps around her stomach.
"I know," was all Daryl said. He wanted to kill her just as bad.
Angie, Negan, and the rest were all suited up and waiting by the gate when the two walked over with crossbows in hand. Tegan looked at the bat that swung by Negan's legs. She didn't care, but she knew Daryl wasn't happy. Now was not the time for that though.
The group set out, following Ezekiel's lead. They stayed quiet, listening. Listening for any sign of the other group.
Daryl saw movement out of the corner of his eye and swung himself to face it. As the rest of the group moved on he stalked quietly towards the motion he saw. Negan was the only one who noticed Daryl's reaction and he stopped to help him.
As Daryl got to the edge of the woods it was then a large man with the skin of a walker covering his face bolted out and lifted Daryl up before smashing him into the hard concrete ground.
Negan ran up with Lucille held high, but Beta grabbed her and ripped her out of Negans hands. Out of the woods came Walker's. Lots and lots of walkers. The rest of the group had seen Daryl get taken down and they couldn't do anything.
"Watch their hands!" Daryl yelled as the group started taking down walkers. Tegan tried to make her way over to Daryl as him and Negan fought with the giant man known as Beta.
Negan tried tackling Beta, but unfortunately for him the man was to large. He took Lucille, swung her back, and cracked Negan in the ribs with it. He doubled over in pain as Beta held Lucille high above his head. Before he could bring it down onto Negan, Daryl shot an arrow right into Betas shoulder causing the giant to falter slightly.
Angie had snuck up behind him and lunged herself onto his back, trying to get her arms around his neck. He lifted her over his head and slammed her into a tree. She screamed in pain.
Tegan and the others finished taking down the walkers and the few whisperers that were in there with them.
"Stop!" Ann's voice rang through the woods.
"Alpha," Beta nodded at her. In her hand was the little wrist of a little red headed girl. Tegan went to step up, but Daryl grabbed her arm and yanked her back.
"Let her go!" Tegan yelled at the other woman.
"I am Alpha. I see you met Beta," she said, ignoring the stressed Mama's words. Stryker stood still, staring at her parents with knowing eyes that they would get her out of this. Two others from the group were holding the twins back. Negan helped Angie up as they stared at their children.
"What do you want?" Daryl asked.
"You crossed into our land," Alpha said.
"Your land? I don't know if you know this or not, but we are in the middle of a fucking apocalypse. This land, isn't owned by anyone," Tegan snarled at the woman.
"This is our land and you came onto it without permission and you killed our people without even giving them the chance to rise again," she spoke clearly and slowly. "You also took my daughter from me. I want her back."
"If we give her back, you'll give us our children?" Negan asked.
"A more than fair trade. 3 for 1," Alpha said. Tegan glared at the woman for a few moments before looking down at her daughter. Stryker had a tear stained face.
"Where's my brother?" Daryl asked.
"We keep him, in case you decide to not stick with the deal of a border."
"A border? We didn't agree on that," Tegan said.
"If you don't the redneck white trash will die."
"Fine. We will agree to your border," Daryl said, defeated.
"Go get my daughter."
"How do we know you won't hurt them?" Tegan snarled. Alpha smiled.
"We haven't yet, have we?" She asked, running a hand over Strykers hair.
"I can't leave her," Tegan whispered to Daryl.
"Negan and I will stay close to them. Watch them. The rest of you go get her," Daryl whispered back.
"Well?" Alpha asked, watching the couple.
"Alright," Tegan whispered. "Fine." Alpha smiled and nodded.
"Mama will be back for you baby!" Tegan yelled to Stryker who nodded.
"Stay strong, kids. We'll be back!" Angie yelled. As the group started walking Tegan and Daryl told their plans to them.
"I love you, Daryl. Be careful," Tegan said, before planting a rough kiss on his lips.
"I love you, too," he said, hugging her. Negan and Daryl broke off from the group when they were sure there were no whisperers.
"T, are we really going to just let them have Merle?" Angie asked.
"I don't plan on it, but first we need to make sure the kids are safe," Tegan said. Her eyes scanned the woods, making sure nothing was following them. Her heart ached for her family. Daryl and Stryker are her whole world.
"They'll be okay. All of them," Angie said, placing a hand on her friends shoulder.
"I know. I'm going to make sure of it," Tegan said lowly. Angie looked at her friends grim face and saw an unknown darkness in her eyes. Mama bear had just fully awakened.
