Chapter 7

The Twins

"Burke? Thorin?" I asked truly stunned.

They looked exactly like they did on the ship when Reid brought me here except this time they were both dressed in complete black along with their cloaks. Their bodies blended into the darkness of the night, except for Thorin's blonde hair and both of their orange eyes.

Breezy looked back and forth, with her red curls flying, between the two men standing in front of us. "You mean you know them?"

I nodded and then looked back at the two boys, "How did you find us?"

"Oh that's easy. Burke and I heard the Arena was featuring a water wielder. We came straight here knowing you are the only water wielder in Floric," Thorin said.

"We tried to get here to break you out before you had to fight, but we got to the Arena right as your friend-" Burke trailed off realizing the touchiness of the subject as he saw Breezy's mood drop and tears started to form.

"Wait you knew that these battles have been taking place and they have never been stopped?" I asked, horrified.

"Usually they do not kidnap girls and make them fight for their lives. Most all of the participants are paid fighters who know when to stop before they kill," Thorin answered, running his hand through his shaggy blonde hair.

"Now, in both or your cases it is entirely against the law. Normal fights are just a show, an act if you please, to cheat people out of their money. You saw the betting, it's a gold mine. Don't worry, his Highness will take care of everything," Burke said reassuringly.

I was appalled and couldn't believe anyone would let that business go on! If you know about something of that magnitude, put a stop to it!

"Just imagine what would have happened if Reid heard that they put you in the Arena," Thorin said with a mischievous smile growing on his face.

"All hell would have broken loose," Burke said, mirroring the same smile as his brother. "Literally."

"Wait, what do you mean?" I asked.

"Oh, Reid was so angry when you ran off and were not found. He felt so bad and started worrying about what could have been happening to you," Thorin said.

Burke picked up, "He has personally been out in the city looking for you, ever since you left. He even is offering a reward if you were brought to the palace safely. He's been quite upset, but once we get you back to the palace everything will be okay."

Why on earth would the prince of the fire kingdom be worried about a water wielder like me? Mother and Father told me about the old hate between the two opposing elements before the Quarium Treaty was signed. All the different groups were constantly fighting but mostly fire and water. Now it was the earth wielders who have been breaking the rules of the treaty. It didn't make any sense.

"Wait, wait, wait! Prince Reid has been scouring the entire city for Alonia?" Breezy asked.

Thorin turned to her and answered with a smile, "Yes my lady, and who, may I ask are you? I've never seen your beautiful eyes at the palace before. My name is Thorin West," he said with a deep bow. Burke rolled his orange eyes at his brother.

Breezy's cheeks flared red in the darkness as she giggled and managed to tell him her name. "I live at the Wind Outpost with the other wind wielders."

"Oh so you know how to dance? Maybe you could show me a thing or two?" Thorin asked locking Breezy's gold eyes with his orange ones.

Her blush deepened as she smiled and she managed to choke out between her giggling, "I could."

Yet again Burke rolled his eyes at his brother, "Brother, we need to be going to arrive at the palace before morning."

With his charming smile still on his face Thorin nodded and then held his arm out to Breezy, who gingerly laced her arm through his as our little group continued through the quiet streets.
