03 Luna

I wake up in an unfamiliar bed alone. I sigh remembering last night. I found my mate and he's all mine. I smile burrowing my head into his pillow.

"Why are you still in bed?" A voice at the door makes me sit up.

"I... I just woke up, Carson." I stammer seeing his stern expression.

"No, only my good little mate can call me by my name. You are meant to be Luna and you can't even wake at a decent hour?" He asks and my jaw drops.

"I... I didn't know..." I search for what to say.

"No excuses. I'm disappointed, little mate. I wanted to introduce you as my Luna to the elders but you aren't even dressed." He scolds me.

"But I don't have any clothes here." I argue. He begins shaking his head.

"A responsible Luna would have been up in time to acquire her clothing. Think, little mate." He sighs looking away from me.

"I'm sorry, Alpha. Please forgive me. I am just so happy to be your mate. I guess the rest of the world just slipped away." I apologize. I seem to be doing that a lot lately. He sighs again pulling me into a hug.

"You are always forgiven, little mate... now go get some clothes and meet me in my office in 30 minutes." He tells me with a kiss on the head. "Please don't be late and dress appropriately. I still want to introduce you to the elders."

I nod and throw on one of his shirts.

"What time is it anyway?" I ask so I know when to be back by.

"6:30AM." He tells me. That is so early! Why was he mad at me?! It's not like I slept in.

"Seriously!?" I yell at him. "You yelled at me for sleeping in and it's only 6:30?!"

"I have been up since 4... my Luna should be ready when I am." He responds.

"I NEVER get up this early! You can't seriously be mad that I wasn't up! The sun is just now rising!" I continue to scream at him until he pushes me into the wall by my stomach with enough force to knock the wind out of me.

"You do NOT talk to me like that! I am your Alpha and you WILL speak to me with respect!" He growls. I pant trying to catch my breath from his blow. "Do you understand me, little mate?" I nod.

"Use your words." He tells me.

"Yes, Alpha." I gasp a out.

"Good, now get dressed and be at my office in now 20 minutes." He commands and I feel my lip begin to quiver. "No, please, don't cry... I'm sorry little mate. Let me see. Did I hurt you?" He lifts my shirt showing a bruise on my abdomen. He looks so upset as he kisses my stomach. "I'm truly sorry... You need to be respectful. I don't want to hurt you. I love you. Please, just try to think before you speak? It hurts me to see you in pain. Can you do that for me, little mate? Can you try and think? Try and be respectful? As Luna you need to be. Please I don't like seeing you hurt."

"I'm sorry... you're right, Alpha. I'll try to do better. I shouldn't have yelled at you. I... I love you too." I tell him. Carson smiles again and nods allowing me to leave his room.

I walk back home rubbing the bruise on my stomach through the shirt. It is still tender. I've never been handled so roughly. I'm not sure how to take this but I do love him. He is my mate, and after all I deserve it. I keep saying stupid and hurtful things. I mean seriously I am the worst mate ever. I basically tell him I don't want him. Tell him I don't want to be Luna. Then I blow up when he tries to teach me how to be Luna. I am such a disappointment to him. He deserves better. But I can be better! I will! Starting with meeting the elders. I will look perfect and I won't say anything out of line. I'll prove to my mate that I care. That I'm good enough.

My interior monologue ends as I reach my house. 15 minutes to get ready and get back. I take 5 to shower off my body, 3 to shave, 2 to get into my dress, 1 for shoes, 5 for makeup but... crap! I'm already late! I take the 5 minutes to do my hair considering I'm already late and run to the pack house.

I go straight to his office and knock on the door. In a second it is opened and I see Beta James.

"I'm sorry miss. We are in a meeting you will need to...."

"Let her in." His deep voice cuts off his Beta. The Beta looks me over in shock. Guess he didn't expect me to be his Alpha's mate. I know they were waiting on me.

"Sorry I'm late, Alpha." I address my mate first thing. I can see he is angry but he hides it well.

"Humm." Is the only answer I get to my apology before he turns to the elders. "Alright men, I'd like to introduce you to my mate and your Luna."

"Does she have a name, Alpha? In all our discussions this morning you've yet to mention it." Beta James smirks at the Alpha who growls.

"Of course she has a name! What a stupid question." Alpha Carson responds.

"Then what is it?" As he asks I realize my mate never did ask me. I decide to jump in and save him.

"I'm Katie, Beta James, and its wonderful to meet you." I tell him as I hold out a hand to shake. "All of you." I add glancing at the elders. Beta James takes my hand and kisses my knuckles.

"A pleasure to meet you, Luna Katie." A growl causes the Beta to drop my hand and step away only to get punched in the jaw.

"Everyone out!" Alpha Carson orders and the men scramble out. I go to follow but he stops me. "Not you, little mate." He hisses near my ear as he reaches around me to slam the door.
