❝Luke wished he could be open again, to not let his past relationships hold such an effect on him and his love life. In a flash, it was like all the toxicity from the past came back as if it hadn't happened all those years ago❞

A COUPLE OF NIGHTS LATER, as Mia flipped through some candid of the boys that Andy had took, the boys—excluding her—had piled up in Ashton's hotel room. Jokes were shared among the four, until Ashton made a suggestive face towards Calum. "So," The drummer made sure to draw out the last syllable. "You and Mia?" At the mention at Mia's name, Luke almost spit out his drink at Calum's stoic and reaction-less expression. The bassist placed his red solo cup on the table beside him and uncrossed his legs as he spoke.
"Nothing is going on between Mia and me. You have to be joking with that one, mate." He felt Luke's eyes on him but brushed it off as he continued to speak. "You know I'm not one to do something right now. Especially with someone we work with, that has trouble written all over it."
"You sure? You both seemed pretty flustered earlier in the dressing room" A teasing grin plastered on Ashton's face. Listening to his ridicules, it brought Calum back to the earlier times in the band. Where they spent during band practice teasing each other about how they all were with their girlfriends or how they were with the opposite sex in general. Calum tried to hold back the smile from spreading onto his face as he reminisced on the simplicity of before. Before fame had whisked them all away. He really had no idea where this band was going to take him. The bassist easily let himself get washed away by the nostalgia, forgetting about Ashton's inquiry.
Mistaking his silence and shy smile as a conformation, Michael teased further, "Seems like he's left you speechless, or she rather. Was it that good?"
Ashton smacked Michael's shoulder, "When isn't doing it backstage not good?"
Unlike Calum's silence, Luke's went unnoticed as he looked down at his cup. The liquid suddenly tasting bitter. He envied Calum, already getting back on the dating bandwagon. Luke wished he could be open again, to not let his past relationships hold such an effect on him and his love life. In a flash, it was like all the toxicity from the past came back as if it hadn't happened all those years ago.
"I'm not disagreeing with you Ash," Calum let out a laugh. "But seriously, Mia and I weren't doing anything. She was actually upset earlier; she had let all the comments get to her." Ashton and Michael's faces fell into an apologetic one, asking Calum if she was doing fine now. The bassist quickly eased their nerves, explaining how he had comforted after she spilled her emotions out to him. Eyebrows furrowed, the blonde kept his face hung low, his mood turned sour. Abruptly, he stood up and excused himself, sulking to Mia's hotel door.
She heard a knock at her door. Forgetting her rather minimal clothing, a simple tank top and shorts, she opened the door. Much to her surprise, Luke stood there, his hands deep into his pockets. "Hey, uhm," He shifted his weight on his two feet, rocking side to side. His sour mood, turning to one of anxiousness for some unknown reason. "Calum told me what happened with you earlier today and I really wanted to apologize behalf of our fans. You're just trying to do your job and I," he corrected himself, "we wouldn't want that to take such a toll on you."
