Chapter 4: Escape

It's been another week and I haven't seen Matt since. Sometimes I can hear him as he walks be the door that goes down to the basement but that's it. I've stopped trying to escape. I've given up, they haven't given me any chance to escape and it seems pointless to try.

Jacob opens the door and walks over to my cell. I've been refusing to eat and he sees the bowl and gets mad. He growls a little and opens the cell door. He walks over to me and grabs my throat. "Why aren't you eating?! We need you alive!" he yells and throws me on the ground. I cry out in pain and don't say anything as he beats me.

He walks out of the cell and locks it leaving me laying in the floor with broken bones. As he opens the door I can smell Matt on the other side of the doorway. I can smell the anger coming off him as Jacob walks out and shuts the door behind him cutting off Matt's scent. Tears come to my eyes wishing I could just get out of here. After awhile I sit up and start to eat not wanting to be beaten again.

Later that day I hear arguing coming from upstairs. I can't tell what they're saying but I can tell It's Jacob and someone else. After awhile I hear a full on fight break out and it sounds bad. I cover my eyes not wanting to listen to it and block it out. After awhile it finally stops and gets quiet. I don't hear anything and uncover my ears. After awhile i still don't hear anything and fall asleep on the mattress.

"Get up!... Come on!... " I hear someone whisper as they shake me gently. It was Matt. I smile a little then stop wondering why he's here even though they told him not to. "Come on, we need to go." He says and I sit up a little confused. "Go? Where are we going?" I ask. 'Does he mean he's getting me out of here? Is he really betraying his pack?' I think as he helps me stand up. He leads me out of the cage and up the stairs. He leads me through the house being as quiet as possible. After awhile we get outside and i take a deep breath of fresh air. It felt so good to be outside after being in that cell for about a month.

We start walking through the woods away from the house. He helps me walk guiding me around trees and other things. "Why did you help me?" I ask after awhile. He sighs "I didn't like how they were treating you. The plan was just to use you as ransome and to make them weaker but I never thought they would hurt you." He says and we keep walking. "And.... I have something to make up for them treating you like that." He says slightly embarrassed. "What is it?" I ask curiously. 'And what does he think could make up for all those beatings?' I think to myself and he sighs "I found someone that mite be able to fix your eyes."
