Matt pov.

'God, she's gorgeous... and she doesn't even know it... ' I think to myself. We we're walking through the forest on our way to Crystal. I help her around a couple trees and rocks. I look around and see a big stick. "Here." I say handing her the stick to use as a walking stick. She smiled. She had a beautiful smile.

"Thank you." she says and we keep walking.

I hated seeing her being hurt by Jacob and everyone else in my old pack. I told them that but they ignored me like they always do. I always made sure she fed... Like anyone else there was going to do it. I really liked going down there everyday. No matter what they did to her she looked so full of hope. She always smiled when she knew it was me in the room. When Jacob found out that it was me giving her hope he said I couldn't go down there anymore. I was furious. The night I broke her out I got into a big fight with Jacob. I've never really stood up to him before, but I couldn't stand it anymore. We started fighting and I knocked him out. I went down stairs to get her and what I saw broke my heart. She looked like she had lost all hope. I got her out of there as quick as I could but I was reckless. They chased us and all I wanted to do was to protect her.

I look down at her smile looking into her sightless eyes and see what made me feel this way in the first place. She was my mate. I knew the second I looked into her eyes. She can't see that we are mates though until she looks back into my eyes... 'But she can't, not until we find Crystal.' I think.

I had heard about Crystal as a child but I always thought it was just a myth. Once I saw she was blind I had to do something about it so I started searching for something or someone that could help her. I found out that Crystal was real and was still alive.

We walk for a couple hours and I can tell she's starting to get tired. I stop her and say we can can take a break for lunch. I take the bag off my shoulder and pull some food out of it. We sit down and I hand her the food.

"How far away is Crystal?" she asks after we're done eating.

"a couple days of walking" I say and I can tell she was hoping it was closer.  "I know you probably want to go home. I wish it was closer too" I say.

Even though I know she's a little sad she smiles at me. 'I can't get over how gorgeous she is.' I think to myself staring at her.

"I really can't thank you enough for getting me out of there." She says smiling at me.

I smile back "No problem."
