I ask jake, who still seems to be deep in his thoughts.

he looks at the menu.

- I'll just take a large watermelon boba with blueberry bubbles.

I turn to the cashier, a young woman who seems to be admiring our relationship.

- we'll take two large watermelon bobas with blueberry bubbles.

she notes the orders.

- your names please?

- sunghoon and... jakey.

I jump at a good chance to tease jakey a bit.

- wha-- hey!

jake blushes.

- you'll pay separately or...?

the cashier asks politely.

- I'll pay.

I offer my card to the cashier.

- but--

jake looks even more flustered.

- it's fine, I'll pay.

- I-- okay.

we walk over to the waiting area.

after a while, our names, are called.

- I leave jake alone and go get the drinks.

he protests but I insist.

I smile and hand him his drink, that has a little heart drawn on it, matching mine.

I mentally note that we should come here again sometime.

we walk to a cosy corner in the busy shop.

he looks much more flustered by my question than I am.

- sorry! I wasn't thinking when I said that!

I laugh awkwardly.

- oh no it's okay...

- you don't have to answer. I just blurted that out, sorry.

- just so you know, I'm not straight. you probably already knew, it's kind of common sense in our year... I'm bi.

I have the sudden urge to confess, and so I did.

- oh. we don't really talk about that kind of stuff.

my heart shatters instantly.

I smirk unintentionally, and watch as jake blushes.
