Accepting his answer I followed Ava down the trapdoor, only to see that she had stopped halfway down the ladder. I was about to ask why she stopped when I noticed what she was looking at. We stood - hanging on to the ladder – above a room of what looked like thousands of people. Little did we know at the time that most of these people wouldn't make it out alive...

Suddenly breaking out of our shock, we finished climbing down the ladder. We seemed to be in a large stone room dug into the ground. It had a raised-up area on one end which I could only assume to be a stage. It wasn't too bright in here, a few torches placed down every couple of feet, but mostly the room looked like it had been thrown together in a short amount of time.

After standing uselessly at the bottom of the ladder for a few minutes I finally decided that we should try to get closer to the stage. I grabbed Ava's hand and started to weave through the crowd, dragging her along with me. People of ages from 10 years or younger to looking in their forties were jammed into this room. As we neared the stage a tall guy with dirty blond hair and a weird mask walked out onto it, "Hello, my name is clay - but you can call me Dream - I'm sure you are all wondering how you got here. I cannot provide certain answers, but from what we have observed, it appears we have been sucked into Minecraft."

"We don't know how or why this happened, we can only assume that our way out is to beat the game. This would normally be an easy task, but upon closer examination, it appears the world has been sized up to an extreme amount. We have estimated that around 3,153,000 players have joined the game, and of that number 9,748 people have died so far. Unlike normal  Minecraft, there is no respawn, when you die, you die in real life. So, we are asking you to join us in taking down the Ender Dragon. It will not be easy, and your life may be put in danger, but this is our only way out."

After Dreams speech the players dispersed, most joining him and - I only found out recently they were working together - Wilbur. Back in the real world, they were Minecraft streamers so they were chosen to lead our groups since most people already looked up to them. Because there were so many people, we were forced to split up into multiple groups, ours being led by Dream, George, and Sapnap. They seemed reliable, they could joke and have fun, but when needed, they were serious and honestly kinda scary. Plus they had great PVP skills and were tactical geniuses.

Obviously, I joined them. Ava seemed skeptical, though she followed me and joined as well. Over the next week we have set up an official base and everyone has been assigned a room. Our base was underground, dug into a large mountain because we learned mobs can spawn during the day. Torches keep them from spawning, but we would need way more than we do now if we lived on the surface. So now, everyone is settled in and ready to begin our journey to face the ender dragon.

"Ava! Hey! Mission sign-ups are today wanna go get a spot?" I yelled, seeing Ava across the hall.

"I don't know...doesn't that sound dangerous?" She replied nervously, "We only just spawned in, we shouldn't go risking our lives so carelessly."

"Come on!" I teased, "We have enough gear, iron armor is way more than enough to protect us. Plus I've been practicing my PVP skills! If anything happens I can totally protect you!"

"...um...fineeee! I guess we can sign up for a mission. But if anything happens I'm blaming you." She jokingly added. I was unsure if there was some truth to that statement though, she did seem especially uneasy about all of this. But it didn't matter - on the off chance that we do get assigned a mission we should be fine.
