Chapter 22

“Jessie?!” I tried again and started to search all over.

“Jessie, where are you?!” I was panicking now. I don’t know what part of the park I was in. How the heck am I going to get home?!

“Oh, wait! I could just call her.” I said to myself. I got my phone out and pressed the home button but the screen was pitch black.

“Seriously?!” After the tenth time of trying to open my phone, I gave up. The battery’s dead. I put my phone back into my pocket and sighed. I walked backwards just to see if I could catch a glimpse of Jessie’s red hair. I wasn’t looking and walked right into someone. I ended up tripping and almost sitting on the person, almost.

“Oh my gosh. I am so sorry!” I apologized, looking at the ground feeling embarrassed.

“It’s ok. I wasn’t looking anyway.” The person I walked into said. I looked up to see who I bumped into. I was met by gorgeous, chocolate brown eyes, shining with amusement.

“Liam?!” I am so glad I found him! I hugged him tightly.

“Oh, hey.”

“Do you, by chance, know where our hotel is? I’m kind of lost.” I confessed and stared at the suddenly interesting pavement.

Liam chuckled. “I do.”

“What are you doing here?” I asked, curious to find out why. Liam didn’t look like he was going for a jog. He was dressed in regular clothes and a hoodie.

“I was just talking a walk and was hoping to find you.” He smiled at me while I blushed.

“Oh, well, you found me.” I said, not really sure what to say. “Why don’t we head back and get ready for dinner?”

“Sounds good.” Liam said and we journeyed back to our hotel. We walked in silence. About an hour and a half later of just admiring the park and making small talk, we finally arrived. The sun was setting already, making the sky purplish.

“Allie! Thank goodnesss! I was worried sick. When you weren’t back for longer than you usually did, I thought you were lost.” Jessie said and ran up to hug me tightly. We just entered the lobby when Jessie spotted us.

“You worry too much, Jess.” I said but hugged her nonetheless.

“I know, I know. I should’ve known that Liam would find you. Why do I always find you two together?” She asked and sent a smirk to Liam who was standing behind me. Neither of us replied.

“Where have you two been?!” I heard someone demand. We turned our heads to face the elevators to see an angry Harry march his way towards us with the others following him.

“We went to the grocery.” Liam said, jokingly.

“Why were you at the grocery?” Harry demanded again. Niall was standing beside me wearing the same look as Harry.

“Oh, you know, we were hunting for elephants.” I said, sarcasm dripping in my tone. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest.

“That’s not funny.” Harry said and surprised me by enveloping me in a hug.

“I was worried.” He said into my hair. I rolled my eyes once again. Harry’s acting like an older brother again.

“I know.” I said and returned the hug. “I was just jogging.”

“Anyway,” Louis started when I pulled away. “Where do you guys want to eat?”

“I don’t know. Let’s just go to a famous restaurant here.” Niall suggested. Courtney and I exchanged a knowing glance.
