The group walked up the stairs into Cerebro, Bethany stood at the back of the group with her hands in her lab coat pockets. Charles was the first to walk inside, he was bar far the most curious and intrigued by the machine since it would be his mutation that would be used. Raven had wanted to see how it all worked but honestly wondered if the machine would work in general.
Bethany did not even speak at all as she got inside, she immediately went around the room to check everything. She reached up to the helmet and checked on the cords, giving Henry a thumbs up when she saw that everything was okay. This was the first time that Charles saw her work and she was far more passionate about it than he thought. He watched her move around and check the safety and connectivity of the machine.
"I uh... call it Cerebro." Henry says, looking brightly at the machine had worked on, of course, Beth had credit as well, but he definitely wanted to bask in this for a moment. Charles chuckled while examining Bethany, still hearing Henry. "As in Spanish for the brain."
"Yes." Charles peeled his eyes away from Beth now, he knew what Cerebro meant, but Henry just couldn't help himself.
Bethany took Charles' arm and guided him to the helmet, "So, the electrodes connect you-" She stopped him from moving now and backed away, "-to the transmitter on the roof-" She moved away from him to connect a few more wires.
"Yes, so when it picks up a mutant, his brain then sends the signal through a relay." Henry continued for Beth, "And then the coordinates of the location are printed out here."
Raven was at a loss for words, she had never seen anyone smarter than Charles before, "You designed all of this?"
"Yeah."
Beth couldn't stop the smile from forming on her face while reaching up and putting the helmet on Charles. His own smile was from watching her be happy for Henry, he straightened his back a little.
Erik smirked with his arms crossed over his chest, walking around to face Charles, "What an adorable lab rat you make Charles."
"Don't spoil this for me, Erik." Charles talked back, now trying to keep focus and look away from Beth.
"I've been a lab rat. I know one when I see one."
"I wouldn't necessarily call him a lab rat." Bethany had to pull a stool over to push the wires down on the helmet, "He has a choice to do this or not." She tapped the helmet softly, "Alrighty, it's good to go Henry."
"Are you sure we can't shave your head?"
Without missing a beat, "Don't touch my hair."
Beth snickered while moving the stood away, "You responded far too fast."
Charles did not say anything and just winked Bethany's way. She did not even realize that the two were flirting were with each other, but the others were able to spot it easily. Charles knew exactly what he was doing and couldn't help it because he got reactions from Beth he was not used to.
