Avyanna woke up early. All the other girls in the room were asleep. She didn't feel like sleeping anymore, perhaps she was interested in what the day would bring.
She thought she might as well get ready now, as she grabbed her uniform out of her trunk. She put her robe on and looked into a mirror to fix her hair.
She sighed. In the mirror she saw a girl with greyish eyes and wavy brown hair that went just a little bit past her shoulders. Avyanna frowned at the look of herself. She looked over to Pansy's bed. Pansy was pretty, her little nose and silky jet black bob. For a girl who was only 11, Avy felt incredibly insecure.
After putting a black clip in her hair to get it out of her face, she grabbed her wand and decided to sneak down to the commonroom.  As she tip toed to the commonroom, she could've sworn she heard something, or someone, moving. It was dark, so she couldn't see anything, although she could make out a sofa, where somone was sitting? She froze, careful not to make any noise.
"I know your there, whoever you are." She heard a boys voice say. It was Dracos.
Avy sighed, what was he doing up? This was the last person she wanted to see.
"Its me, the Cummins girl." Avy responded mockingly. "And what are you doing up?"
"What are YOU doing up?"
He had a point, Avy thought.
"Well, I got up early, so I decided to come down here, if you have to know."
"Well Cummins, your a very strange girl."
"I would say the same to you." Avy could tell Draco was wearing his robes as well.
Then an idea hit her. If she wanted to keep a good reputation, and become popular,
she had to befriend Malfoy. They wouldn't even have to like each other, just make it seem like they were on good terms. If she did this, she would be able to keep her and her families reputation, for she knew that Draco could ruin it easily with their fathers being on bad terms.
"Draco, I have an offer for you." Avyanna said as she sat at the chair beside the sofa.
"Hah, and what's that." He said as he sat back a little bit.
"Well, I was thinking, about your offer." Avyanna said.
"You mean the one for friendship? I thought you didn't like me, decided you did huh?"
"Oh god, would you just listen?" Draco smirked. Avy just rolled her eyes. "As I was saying,  I was thinking about a truce, you could say."
Draco raised his eyebrows. "Oh?"
"Well, I'm sure you would want a good reputation the same way I would."
"Why wouldn't I?"
"Well, I'll be part of your little group, do what you want me to, on one condition."
"Ohhh, she wants to join me now. I knew you'd come around." Draco did that smirk again. "What's the condition."
"I know our fathers aren't in good terms with each other, but if you won't talk bad about my father, I won't talk bad about yours, we would both keep a good reputation, and you would have another group member."
Draco stared at his hands for a bit, then finally said;
"Alright then Cummins, you have a deal. But just a reminder, if you embarrass me, you'll regret it." Draco held out his hand.
"Hah, is that some type of threat? Besides, who said we would be freinds?" Avy answered as she shook his hand awfully firmly. "Just because I'm part of your little group doesn't make me your freind."
"Oh trust me Cummins, I was going to say the same thing to you."
Suddenly, they heard footsteps. It was a year three, and then another, till eventually the commonroom was filled with half-awaken boys and girls. It was almost breakfast.
"Where were you?" Pansy asked as they headed to the dining hall.
"Me and Draco sorted things out, I'm in your guy's group, I suppose." Avy lied, or half lied. Her and Draco still secretly hated each other, she just needed a way to keep her and her families reputation, she had to keep reminding herself this, for she felt that she might regret this idea.
"Well that's lovely. Come on, let's catch up with the guys."
From that day, Avy would look back and wouldn't be able to tell if it was a mistake or not to shake Draco's hand.
