The Philosopher Stone is large. In records, it was presumed to be small to a child's hand, but yet it was as large as a tall Oak Tree. Japan had founded it during a forced expedition, as the United State were desperate for it as their economy was failing.
In myths, the Philosopher Stone was to give gold and endless life. It was found later that it doesn't do that, but gives a surmountable amount of defense, even toward nuclear bombs. Thanks to this knowledge through research, Japan had paid the United State large sum of money in order to gain the Philosopher Stone.
It was then transformed into indestructible Monoliths, protecting our nation for several years. It could say that we were selfish and distracted before it was too late. The Disaster.
A long period that happened 15 years ago, a period that was almost long forgotten. The memories are still intact to people to this day. To say, the Disaster was a disaster.
Many citizens were getting an incurable sickness, children and parents alike. All over their bodies were crystallized crystals growing on their bodies. With all the screaming and the knocking people unconscious thing, scientists were able to have some details over this incident, labeling level 1, level 2, Level 3, and 4.
Albeit, over half the population had died and Japan worsened.
The sickness is still going around, but not as widespread like long ago. Now, the symptoms were known to people, and more caution are given. As we're trying to grow our population back to how it was, there are still people dying due to that disease.
"Nakamura, are you paying attention?!" Mr. Kurodo commented, as I raised my head from the table. Although sitting in the back of the class, there wasn't a full class that would have kept me hidden from the teacher eyes. Out of 32 seats, only 12 were filled. Children are scarce these days, especially those who are fifteen years old today. After all, we are the survivors of the Disaster.
"Yes, Mr. Kurodo." With all the information I've received about the Disaster, he has provided me most of it. Theories, commenting, and when it happened, his memories are straight on. Even government officials had paid him large sum of money, a rarity these days, in order to gain information. As most things are cheap, our supplies are low due to the shipping issues.
Despite United State's anger over our betrayal, they were helping us the most. Shipping in goods had helped this country survive for 15 years already, but we had to give up a lot of things to gain for it. Well, it was worth it.
For one thing, the government argued over a lot of things, where in public, people are complaining about them. Everyone hated the government. Especially, about the education issue.
They were planning to shut down the education programs such as school, leaving a bunch of kids uneducated. Fortunately, locals has started schools and recruited retired teachers to help them run the schools. The government was angry, but it passed.
"Then, what are the symptoms for Level 1?" Grinning slightly, he knew I knew all the answers to the Disaster. As the "teacher pet", staying in his class for several hours to know about it, the information were on the back of my hands.
Curiosity kills the cat basically. With my curiosity running around, I just want to hurt myself for not knowing one piece of information as what the government is trying to hide about this incident. The Monoliths possibly had a piece in this, despite the Philosopher Stone hidden in it.
Only 7 Monoliths exist in Japan. As high as Tokyo Tower, the Monoliths are the largest structures in this nation. Protecting us, it was mystery how the Disaster happened within their watch. Chicken Pox didn't exist anymore. Why crystallized skins?
