A few days after the party at Grill, Bella still doesn't know anything about Stefan. To get Stefan's thoughts out of her head she decides to talk to Caroline about Bonnie. They are both walking towards the entrance of the school and talking.
"Have you even talked to Bonnie?" Asks Belle to Caroline.
"No. I'm mad at her. She needs to make the first move." Explains Caroline to her friend. She is mad at Bonnie because Bonnie doesn't return the necklace and because of that Damon treated her badly.
"Be the bigger person." Advises Belle.
"Impossible in her presence." Caroline says bitterly. Belle looks at Caroline and sighs.
"Why are you so pissed at her, anyway?" Asks Belle. She doesn't know what happened between then.
"She's a thief. That's why." Says Caroline stubbornly. "I gave her my necklace, and she refuses to give it back. It's a matter of principle." Explains Caroline.
"All right. Well, I tried. I'm officially out of it." Says Belle with a sign.
"Good. Your turn. Where's Stefan? Have you talked to him?" Asks Caroline to her friend. Belle signs when Caroline asks her about Stefan.
"He's avoiding me." She replies to Caroline. Caroline looks at Belle in confusion.
"Why?" Asks Caroline. Belle doesn't know what to respond to Caroline without telling the truth.
"It's complicated." Says Belle to her friend. Then the school bell rings. "I'll see you later." She tells to Caroline and going to her class room.
"Bye." Says Caroline to Belle. Caroline can see again the sadness in her friend eyes because Belle doesn't know anything about Stefan.
When Belle enters in the classroom she looks at Stefan's desk that is empty. She sighs and sits down at her desk. She sees Bonnie coming in and sees that her friend is not well. Bonnie looks at Belle and shakes her head as if to say she was talking to her later. Belle furrows her eyebrows and decides talk to Bonnie in the end of classes. Then the new teacher enters in the class room.
"Good morning, everyone." He greets the students. "Alright. Let's see." He then grabs the chalk and begins to write his name on the board. "Alaric Saltzman. It's a mouthful. I know. Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. Saltzman is of German origins. My family emigrated here in 1755 to Texas. I, however, was born and raised in Boston. Now, the name Alaric belongs to a very dead great-grandfather I will never be able to thank enough. You'll probably want to pronounce it "ala-ric," but it's "a-lar-ic," ok? So you can call me Rick. I'm your new history teacher." And that's how Belle and her class get to know the new teacher. She has the feeling she'll like him.

At Boarding House Damon decides to wake up Stefan.
"Rise and shine. You'll be late for school." Says Damon to his brother. Stefan sits on the bed and looks at Demon as if he had gone mad.
"What are you... what are you doing?" Asks Stefan to Damon.
"Peace offering." Damon says showing a glass of blood to Stefan. Stefan gets out of bed to go to the bathroom and Damon appears in front of him to block his way. "Come on. You need it for blood circulation. Does dead flesh good." Stefan continues to look at Damon without expression and finds no joke to what he is saying. Damon rolls his eyes. "All right, I'm sorry." Says Damon without feeling sorry at all.
"Step aside, please." Says Stefan to Damon annoyingly.
"I got the town off our back. It was for the greater good, but I'm sorry. And to prove it, I'm not gonna feed on a human for at least a week. I'll adopt the Stefan diet, only nothing with feathers." Says Damon to his brother. Then Stefan decides to mock Damon.
