1 WEEK LATER
Finally! Its been a week since I woke up, and im going to school! I bet its going to be amazing! But.. there must have been a reason I left, right? Maybe it wouldnt be so great.. I guess ill just see how the day goes. I packed my deer bag, and brushed my fingers over my necklace, making sure it was there. I smiled in the mirror.
I looked normal. White shirt, light blue jean jacket, black jeans. A lot of jeans, but that's pretty normal I guess. I put on a pair of brown tenneshoes, chuckling slightly at the deer face and sewn on antlers and ears. I really was obsessed with deer. And now I was one. Well, half one. The only thing that hindered my appearance was a long white scar over my left eye. I couldnt see out of it anymore, and there was no pupil in the eye. The eye was a mirror image of the night sky. I frowned at it, and put on my eye-patch, naturally with a forest landscape. I then covered it with my bangs, which could conveniently covered both the birthmark on my forehead shaped like the big dipper, which I had been shocked to find, and the eyepatch completely
My dad told me lots of stories about me, and I kind of liked who I was, but I cant seem to remember even when he told me. I hadn't remembered anything yet, and it worried the both of us.
I slung the backpack over my back, and headed downstairs. The early summer sun streamed through the large glass back door. School was almost over for the year, my dad had told me, but we wouldnt move until it was completely over. On the table, there was steaming plates of pancakes. To my distaste, there was also bacon. I suppose it was only natural, given my form.
I sat down, but I placed the bacon on my napkin. My dad, already sitting at the table, looked at me questioningly. I grabbed a new napkin from the container in the middle of the table and started eating the pancakes. "Good morning." I said to my father after I swallowed the bite. "Good morning, Mason!" He said cheerily. He was in a good mood a lot, particularly when I spent time with him. I guess because he almost lost me. I finished my pancakes a few minutes later, and rinsed off my plate and put it in the dishwasher.
I rushed out the door, waving bye to my dad. I had bought a used car the other day, and I was miraculously allowed to drive, thought I dont know why. I turned the key, and eased the machine out of park. I drove all the way to the large high school. I parked, and got out. I looked at the school, and it seemed to loom over me like I was a person standing at the bottom of Mount Everest, getting ready to climb.
I sighed a bit, and took out my phone. I had a detailed map of the school, because I had printed out a school map and then mapped out all the best routes to and from all the classes on my schedule. I strode in the front doors. Suddenly, I noticed people were staring at me. Why were they staring? I was really confused, but went back to my map. I managed to make it to my homeroom.
The teacher greeted me as I walked in, purposefully early."Ah, hello Mason. Your dad told us of your... unfortunate accident." I nodded politely at the woman. She was a rather standard concept of a teacher, dark hair that was in a bun, black glasses, and a white shirt and a skirt. "Were all here to help you if you need any help, including tutoring if you cant, well, remember how to do your work. I frowned. "Miss, I can assure you my mind is almost perfectly intact. I have almost all my knowledge still, just my personal memories are gone. That's what the doctor said, at least." I told her.
"Then that makes our job a lot easier, dosent it?" She said, smiling at me. I smiled back a bit awkwardly, staring at her for a minute as I waited for farther instruction. She looked at me confused, but then seemed to remember something. "Oh right! Your seat is right there, Mason." She pointed to a seat in the front. I walked over there and sat down, putting my stuff on the ground.
