William ran ahead of me, very very fast. Huh, he was in pretty good shape. I started sweating a lot, and stopped to catch my breath. He realized I stopped, and he came back. I pushed back my bangs, exposing both my birthmark and my eyepatch in one swoop, and rubbing my hand against my forehead. "Whoo, I'm out of shape!" I said. He looked at me shocked. "Why are you wearing an eyepatch? And is that the big dipper?" I looked down a bit. "No, no, I love it! Do you like stars at all?" His eyes.. they suddenly changed to a light purple. "WHAT THE--" I stepped back."My eyes change with my emotions.. currently I'm worried and scared, so the colors mix." His eyes changed to a very light pink. I breathed in and out slowly. "I lost my eye in the same accident I lost my memories." I said, looking him in his pink eyes. His eyes turned a gray. "Okay, now that that's over, can we keep going?" He said. I nodded, and he grabbed my hand this time. "Huh?"I said confused. "To keep you with me." He said, walking, and I started walking too.
Soon enough, we reached a log cabin type thing. The letters read 'mystery hack'. "Huh?" I said. Then all of a sudden, I saw a letter s falling off, and a different light level, and then I was back. "Come on slow poke, we gotta get a good seat." William said. He picked some seats in the second row, as the first row was already filled. "We have a little while till the event starts, wanna take a look inside?" He said. I nodded, and he grabbed my hand again.
"Welcome to the mystery shack? How may I help you?" A young woman, maybe 17 or 18 said from behind the register. She then looked coldly at William. "Just.. looking!" I said after a moment. I then turned around, and looked at the shelves. Something immediately caught my eye. I took a baseball cap off a shelf. It was blue, with a lighter blue pine tree on it "Hey, I think I've seen this hat before." I said. Then my head started aching like I had pounded it against a wall with a lot of sharp points. Then it happened again.
"H-hey kids, how about you take something from the gift shop for all your hard work? On the house." A old man said. "A-are you sure grunkle stan?" I heard coming out of my mouth. "Yes, now take something before I change my mind!" He said. "Grappling Hook!" I heard from the other side of the room. It was the girl from the photo. I grabbed a pine tree hat, and put it on my head. Then the vision ended.
"MASON!!!" William screamed. I was on the floor. "Huh? Where did the old man go?" I said, startled. "What old man?" William said. "Nevermind.." I said. Then I realized he had his hand on my forehead. "Huh?" I said. "Checking your temperature." He said. "Okay.."I said. I pushed his hand off my forehead, accidentally exposing my birthmark where the cashier could see. "Dipper!" She cried out. "Who is this dipper dude?" I screamed in frustration. William looked at me. "Shes crazy, let's go back outside." I said. This time, it was me who grabbed his hand.
We sat and got good seats, third row though. I got out my phone while we waited, and called my dad. "Hello?"his voice came. "I'm alright, I made a friend and he took me to the place in the photo." I said. "O-oh that's great Mason! Have fun with your new friend!" He then hung up. I frowned. "Everything all right, Mason?" His eyes were a deep purple. Worried, I guessed. "Everythings all right." I said grinning at him.
He smiled back, and his eyes turned a golden yellow. I gasped. "Uh, you still okay?" He said akwardly, his eyes turning purple again. "Your eyes are so pretty when they are yellow! What does it mean?" I said, happily shocked. "It means I'm happy." He said, his eyes turning yellow again. "Happy is a good color on you." I joked. I realized we were getting stares, but I shrugged them off. William seemed used to them. "Thanks! I'm not yellow very often though.." he said, staring off into space.
"Then I will keep you yellow. That is my goal in this friendship, to keep you yellow. Not that other colors arent pretty on you, but yellow is the best." I declared. Suddenly, he turned around with his eyes pink, and gave me a big hug. "Thanks so much Mason, for being my friend.. It means so much to me.."he said, sniffing. "Hey, hey now." I said patting him on the back. "Our meeting was chance, but our friendship was choice. That's the best choice I've made since I woke up. I'm honored to be your friend, William." I told him. "Im even more honored to be yours, Mason." He said.
