Chapter 5 - Moving Day!

Start Of Summer Vacation

Finally! After months of waiting, it was finally summer, and we could move to gravity falls! My dad found a house and a job, so we could move! We had already packed, and now all we had to do was hire a moving van and drive there. We did so and were off on our way to gravity falls, my heart beating fast the whole way in anticipation.

Finally, we pulled up at the house. The movers wouldn't be there until tomorrow, so we just had the stuff in the car to unload, like our air mattresses and clothes and most special belongings. I grabbed my deer backpack and my air mattress box and headed in, my dad having unlocked the door. I put my stuff in the second biggest room, and got the rest of it, and put it in too. I quickly unpacked, dumping the stuff out of my backpack I didnt need.

"Can I go explore the town?" I called to my dad. "Sure, just come back before dinner and take your phone. Also, get the key that's at the front door." He called. I grabbed a keyring from the floor, and went out, putting the extra key on the keyring as I left the house.

With a smile, I pulled out the photo from my wallet. I had always wondered what the photo was, but I had asked my dad and he just said, "Its in Gravity Falls." And changed the subject.

I wandered along the sidewalk, taking a look at all there was to see. All of a sudden my attention came to rest on a blond head, with slightly pointed dark ears bobbing along not too far in front of me. "Hello?" I said politely, tapping his shoulder. He turned around.

"I'm Mason, Mason Pines. And you are?" I introduced myself, not wanting to be rude by getting straight to the point. "I-Im William." He said with a shy voice. "Just William? Dont you have a last name?" I asked curiously. "No.." he said. It was silent for a minute. "Nice to meet you William!" I said after a moment, a big grin breaking out on my face, holding my hand out for him to shake.

He looked at me for a second. Then he shook my hand. "Its REALLY nice to meet you too, Mason." He said, a bit of a smile came about on his troubled face. I frowned. I knew something was hurting the boy. "Hey, what's wrong?" I asked him, sincere worry showing through. He was obviously taken aback. "Huh? Who said there was anything wrong? I-Im totally fine!" He said quickly. I knew what it looked like when you were pretending, and he obviously was.

"Dont lie to me, I know what it looks like when someone is lying about things that hurt them." I said, looking him in the eyes, thinking of Soul. I know they were hurting much more than they let on all the time, and this boy seemed to be doing the same. But I decided to let it go, and get where I wanted to go and befriend the boy to find out later, as I only had till dinner. "I guess I'll just have to get you to tell me some other time. Wanna be friends?" I said. He looked even more taken aback by that statement.

"F-friends? Everyone in this town hates me!" He said exasperated and sad. "Of course I want to be friends, I want to get to know you better, you seem like a great guy!" I said. "I-id love to.." he said with a teary look in his eyes. A giant grin spread across my face. "Great! By the way, do you know where the building in this picture is?" I said.

"Yeah, that's the mystery shack. It's the home to the Ramirez family. And also one of the most popular shops in the city. They're having a special secret event today. Want me to take you?" He said, gratefulness in his eyes, presumably because we were friends now? This guy had a worse experience with friends than I have. And that's saying something because literally everyone at my highschool ignored me. "Yeah, that would be great! Thanks, William!" I said. He nodded and started walking off in a direction and I followed him. I felt a pair of eyes on me, but william was walking away too quickly for me to check.
