Chapter 9 – Her Demons

"I look nothing like Minnie mouse." I bravely held my ground at the man that was seconds away from murdering me, however my words seemed to infuriate him further. His hands tightened against my neck as his eyes glazed over and his nose flared.

I was so sure that he was going to kill me that I started reciting the lord's prayer in my head, "Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come......" until I heard another voice call out in Italian "Oh my god Ludovico! Can you not go a minute without making everyone's life around you miserable?".

The man immediately released his hands from my neck and turned his attention at the man I recognise as Sasha's fiancée from the photos she previously showed me and the other waitresses.

"Shut up Marco!" the beautiful yet scary man yelled in response.

"I am not scared of you!" Mark shot back with his head held high "I'll just tell uncle Agostino that you are out of control again!". Ludovico and Mark soon entered a deadly battle with their eyes before; Ludovico called Mark a fucking idiot in Italian and walked off with the man he was previously speaking to.

I began coughing and releasing breaths that I did not know I was holding while I held onto my neck feeling the bruises that the brute had left on my skin.

"Scarlett right?" Mark asked smiling down at me, "Are you okay? Should I get you some water?" He sincerely questioned.

"I'm fine." I said trembling, "Could you please take me to Sasha?".

"Absolutely!" He said flashing me another smile; I could tell why Sasha was attracted to him. "I am so sorry for my cousin's behaviour." He continued, "He just doesn't like meeting new people." He said shrugging his shoulders.

"Sasha actually asked me to bring you over to the pool; we knew you got lost after waiting for you there for quite a bit. I never thought you would run into Ludovico." He said feeling guilty.

"I'm fine, don't worry." I said giving him a reassuring smile. "I'm just a bit hungry."

With Mark's guidance, I finally arrived by the pool area, and joined the girls that were now seated on an outside dining table having lunch in their swimsuits.

"There you are Scarlett." Sasha said stuffing one of the freshly sliced tomatoes from her salad into her mouth. "We were so worried about you." She continued immediately after she finished chewing her food.

"I kind of got lost." I truthfully said.

"I suppose people getting lost in your house are a sign of wealth and power." Mark said jokingly before pecking Sasha on the cheek.
