As Kakashi, 20 years old, and Itachi, 12 years old, were coming back from their ANBU mission, they saw smokes rising in the direction of the village. As they got closer, the battlefield in Sakura's village was in their sights and Kakashi widened and narrowed his eyes. "Orochimaru." said Kakashi
"He's one of the sannin who betrayed the village." said Itachi.
"Yeah, and he's the Leaf's greatest enemy."
They decided to go closer.
As the village was in their reach, they noticed a small pink haired child coiled in flames in front of Orochimaru. The girl suddenly released her flames and Kakashi acted quickly. "Water Style: Water Colliding Wave!" Kakashi created a vortex of water in front of them which then turned into a wave of water, but the water evaporated instead. Kakshi and Itachi braced themselves as the counterattack failed. "This is no ordinary fire jutsu" thought Kakashi as they were knocked back a few meters.
"Itachi, we're doing this outside of our mission." Kakashi said to Itachi as he run towards Sakura's village, and Itachi follows. "Is it because of this no ordinary flame?" asked Itachi. "You catch onto things fast." said Kakashi.
They ran towards the village and when they saw the village up close, their eyes narrowed and trembled a little. The whole compound was a sea of burnt and wrecked buildings with small flickers of flames still hanging around. They searched throughout the compound to see if there were any survivors and to their surprise, only the pink haired little girl near the eastern edge of the compound survived. Itachi picked up the little girl bridal style and faced Kakashi.
"How can a little girl do all this?" wondered Kakashi out loud as he looked down at Sakura.

That same night, Kakashi and Itachi brought Sakura to the Leaf Village and notified the Third Hokage immediately, and told him about the situation they encountered. The Third Hokage notified the Elders: Danzo, Himura, and Koharu; Ibiki Morino, the interrogation specialist, and Inoichi Yamanaka, a member of the Intelligence Division. Within seconds, they were gathered in the large interrogation room in the Hokage building, including Kakashi and Itachi. Itachi slowly placed Sakura on the chair in the center of the room and stepped back, waiting for further orders.
The Hokage gave a deep sigh and narrowed his eyes and said "Orochimaru was spotted with the girl." Everyone's eyes widened as if the nightmare that faded had come back.
There was silence for a couple of seconds until Danzo spoke. "This girl could be a spy for Orochimaru." he insisted. Kakashi and Itachi stepped forward to correct him.
"That's not the case." said Kakashi. "Orochimaru seems to be after this girl." Itachi added.
Danzo narrowed his eyes at Sakura which Itachi noticed and kept his guard up as he narrowed his eyes at Danzo.
The Hokage gestured Inoichi to look into Sakura's mind and Inoichi did as he was told. As he put his hand on Sakura's head, he stiffened in place. He was in Sakura's mind and it was dark to its core. A pair of eyes appeared in front of him and he broke out in cold sweat. The eyes were blood red with long black slits that narrowed its look at Inoichi.
'I know what you're here for.' the low voice filled with bloodlust echoed all around Inoichi. He stood his ground, unable to move and broke out in cold sweat. It felt as if the dead rose from the ground and wrapped around every part of his body. He tried to bring himself to speak but all he could manage was a gulp. The pair of eyes showed him what had happened on the same night a few hours ago.
In the interrogation room, Inoichi inhaled with a gasp and took a step back as he finished entering Sakura's mind. He narrowed his eyes at Sakura and then slowly turned to the Hokage. The Hokage saw his expression and narrowed his eyes. "What did you see?" asked the Hokage.
"Orochimaru murdered this girl's parents in front of her eyes and..." Inoichi gulped. "this girl unconsciously destroyed her village and injured Orochimaru."
Everyone in the room narrowed their eyes as they broke out in cold sweat with their mouths half gaped.
"She what?" asked Ibiki with horrid shock.
"Hiruzen, keeping this girl in the village will put everyone at risk." added Koharu. Himura stood next to Koharu and nodded his head in agreement with Koharu.
The Third Hokage ignored their objection and said "No one must speak of this incident. Kakashi, you may be dismissed."
"Hai." and he disappeared with a poof.
"Hiruzen! You're not possibly thinking of doing what I think you're doing." glared Himura. Who knows what might happen to the village if a girl of her caliber stays. For all they know, she could destroy everyone in the village in a night.
"She needs to be nurtured. She just lost her entire clan." assured the Third Hokage. "She will become a Konoha shinobi and inherit the Will of Fire!" He couldn't really pinpoint this tingling feeling he had but he knew that with proper guidance, this pink haired girl could become one of the strongest shinobi who will protect the village.
The Third Hokage turned and faced the Elders with narrowed eyes. "Since we can't agree with each other, how about this. Itachi," he turned to Itachi. "I know this is a huge task but can you take care of this girl from now on?"
"Lord Hokage, I would be glad to but that is not my decision." said Itachi as he stepped up.
"Don't worry. I will personally speak with Fugaku. For tonight, please take care of her too."
"I see. With their visual prowess, they can control this girl if she ever goes out of control." affirmed Koharu. Although the Sharingan of the Uchiha's assured them the safety of Konoha, can it be guaranteed? For one, they know nothing about this girl. Who is she really?
