Everyone was dismissed from the interrogation room as Itachi carried the pinkette on his back and walked back to the Uchiha compound. During this time, the Third Hokage paid a visit to Fugaku’s house and explained the situation to the Uchiha family. Of course, Sasuke was already sleeping since it was really late. Fugaku, Sasuke's dad, had a frown throughout the discussion while Mikoto, Sasuke's mom, had a sympathetic look. Their discussion ended just as Itachi came home with the little pinkette.

The little pinkette woke up early the next morning and sat up on her floor futon mattress. She was in a lightly dimmed room with a Japanese-styled sliding door to her right, where little sunshine shone through. She looked down on her covers and stared blankly into space for a few minutes; she then slowly looked around. Where was she? Where were her parents? Oh right...she thought. Everyone's gone. The images of her parent's death flashed back into her mind and soon a loud cry was heard throughout the house. Thumping sounds were heard as Itachi came closer and closer to the pinkette's room until BANG! The door slid open and hit the side of the wall. A figure stood at the door and exhaled as he slowly walked towards the pinkette.
Itachi kneeled down on her futon and wrapped his arms around Sakura as she cried in his care. He gently caressed her head as he whispered. Don't worry, I'll protect you. I'll always be there for you.
Mikoto, Fugaku and Sasuke soon stood at the door as Sasuke rubbed his eyes. Mikoto smiled at the scene and entered the room. The little raven-haired boy was now fully awake and pouted at the scene he witnessed by the door. Fugaku as always, frowned and soon went back to his business after knowing nothing was wrong.
Mikoto put her hand on Itachi's shoulder. “Itachi, don't worry, I can take care of her now.” she assured.
Itachi slightly hesitated as he slowly got up. Mikoto hugged Sakura and caressed her as if Sakura was her own child.
“Kaa-san, nii-san, who is she?” asked the 6-year old raven-haired boy standing at the door.
While caressing Sakura’s head, she turned to Sasuke and gently smiled. “Your new little sister.”
When the raven-haired boy heard that, his expression lightened. I'm going to be a big brother. He thought as he let out a wide grin.

For the next hour, Mikoto caressed Sakura and patted her back while the small girl let out her tears. Her cries slowly stopped.
“Are you feeling better now sweetie?” asked Mikoto.
Sakura was recovering from her crying and hiccupped as she slowly nodded.
“And what is your name?”
Sakura stared down at ground with red puffed up eyes. The words that came to her mind were what her mother always said to her whenever she felt weak “Sakura, you will bloom into a strong kunoichi one day. Be proud and stand tall.”
“Sakura…Sakura Haruno.” She didn’t know why she had to lie to Mikoto about her last name but she knew she had to keep her last name hidden in order to protect herself.
“Sakura-chan, from now on, you will be living with us. We're going to be your new family. If it’s alright with you, you can call me your kaa-san.” said Mikoto smiling as she pointed to herself with her index finger.
New family?
She thought as images of her family came to her head.
“Hn.” she said as she looked up at Mikoto, with slightly tilted lips.
