Family

“Sakura!” yelled Sasuke as he ran towards Sakura. “Let's walk home together.”

“Hn.” she nodded with a smile.

They both walked home as girls behind them were chattering.

“I'm so jealous of Sakura.”

“It can't be helped.”

“How come?”

“Because she doesn't have a family.”

At the last comment Sakura lowered her head and bit her lower lip.

Sasuke immediately turned around. “Shut up!” That didn't scare any of the fangirls though since they squealed at his remark.

During their recess, Sasuke and Sakura would mostly compete with each other through activities such as running or throwing shurikens at a target. Some girls walked past them as one said “Hmph. Foundling.” Sakura's expression turned into a frown and she clenched her fist. Sasuke looked at them with narrowed eyes, his anger barely in check. 

“What does that mean?” said one of the fangirls.

“My parents told me that it's what you call someone who was abandoned by their parents.” she snickered at Sakura.

'Shut up bitch!' as Sakura and Sasuke were about to turn around, Sasuke immediately saw the look in her eyes and had cold sweat. Sasuke quickly grabbed her arm. Sakura felt a tug on her arm that brought her back to her senses. “l-look Sakura!” Sasuke said nervously. There were more shurikens on Sasuke's target than Sakura. “I win.” he said as he put his arms behind his head and tried to grin.

 It had been a few weeks since they started the academy.

“So how's the academy, Sasuke, Sakura?” asked Fugaku during dinner.

“Tou-san, kaa-san, nii-san, girls are bullying Sakura!” he pouted with anger. Of course, he didn't mention what he saw in Sakura's eyes that one time during recess since he never saw those eyes again. At his statement, Sakura lowered her head. 

Worried was written all over Mikoto's face. “Why is that? And how come you never told us anything Sakura-chan?”

“Because it's embarrassing and....because I don't have a family.”

Itachi finally spoke. “That's nothing to be ashamed of.” He looked at Sakura and she lifted her head. “Because...we're your family now.” he said as he gave Sakura a gentle smile. Sakura slightly tilted her lips as a light shade of pink appeared on her cheeks.

For the past year, Itachi had been training with Sakura and Sasuke and thus, their bond with each other grew. Once Sakura became comfortable living with Sasuke's family and addressing them as her own family, there were barely any peaceful days in the Uchiha household.

“Itachi-nii!”

“Nii-san!”  They both yelled as they entered the dining room simultaneously.

“Train me!” They turned and glared at each other as they pouted.

Itachi's unagi slipped out of his chopsticks. “Maybe next time.”

“No way!” Sasuke and Sakura shouted in unison. Itachi backed up a little as his lips twitched up a bit as he sweat dropped.

To make it more fun, Sakura decided that whoever gets to Itachi first, gets to have the whole day training with him. Of course, only when he didn't have a mission.
