Kate sat in Dumbledore's office, looking everywhere but at him, who sat behind his desk.
"Your cousin, Thomas, will be coming back so you can stay with him. But other than him, I assume you can go with Nymphadora Tonks, if you wish" Dumbledore told her calmly.
"Can't I - can't I go back...to Grimmauld Place?" Kate asked in no more than a whisper as though afraid that the Headmaster might hex her.

"Have you passed your Apparition?" Dumbledore asked to which she nodded in response.
"Very well. Although, I may not suggest that you be left on your own".

She exited Dumbledore's office and instead of going back to the dungeons or even to Gryffindor Tower to meet Harry, she went to the Room of Requirement and only came out when it was time for them to leave for London. Everyone waited in the Courtyard for the carriages to arrive, people muttered and stared at Kate as she walked past them avoiding their eyes and muttering.
"Kate, I just heard...your uncle. I'm so sorry" said Ernie MacMillan sympathetically when he saw her and hugged her while she gave him a feeble smile. She pulled away from the hug and went to Harry who instantly enveloped her into his arms, neither of the two spoke because they knew how the other felt.

She sat in silence during their ride back to London and was the last one to get off the Hogwarts Express.
"You!" she yelled when she saw Draco and pinned him against the compartment door roughly, both of them pulling out their wands.

"YOU! Your dad, your whole family is full of cowards! Your dad will rot in Azkaban!"
"-don't you dare talk about my father like that!"
"I WILL! HE'S NO LESS OF A MURDERER!"

Kate turned away before the tears started pouring down her face and walked away from Draco only to stop halfway through to mop her face until a pair of familiar arms embraced her. And she looked up to see George.

"Shh, I'm here for you, baby. It's going to be okay" George whispered comfortingly, Kate stepped away from him to examine the way he looked in his new suit, all businesslike and successful. He smiled at her and planted a soft kiss on her lips.

Mad-Eye, Tonks, Lupin, Mr and Mrs Weasley, and Fred stood on the platform waiting for her. She hugged Fred first then Tonks and the rest, when she reached Lupin he pulled out a nicely wrapped present from behind him.
"Sirius wanted to surprise you with us on your birthday and he got you this" Lupin said quietly while handing her the present and hugging her in turn. It was only a matter of minutes that she turned around to see Thomas, she hadn't heard from him the last time she had seen him which was on Christmas and it felt so weird to her; to see him standing there alive and even though they may not be on the best of terms anymore, she was still grateful for his gratitude and for being there for her.

"Time to go"
"-wait for me outside"

"You'll write to me if you need me, I'll come get you" Tonks told her while kissing her cheek.

"All right, then, Black" said Mad-Eye, patting Kate's shoulder.
"Keep in touch" said Lupin from beside him.
"Visit us anytime, dear" said Mrs Weasley while kissing her forehead. Kate then moved to Fred, hugged him and kissed his cheek then lastly: George. She held onto him for a while and kissed him, not wanting to let go off him but also wanting to run away, to hide and to never come out.
"I love you" she said in a hushed voice.
"I love you, too" George said while stroking her face, "I'll see you soon, Princess. I promise"
Kate nodded and reluctantly let go off him, giving one last look at everybody before watching them all disperse amongst the crowd.
