shes a god: neck deep
If he could take it back he would. Tsukishima would've just pretended to be asleep on the couch, avoiding conversation with you completely. Hell, he would've even just gone home altogether. He would've done anything if it meant he could erase that memory from his head.
"Why," you ask? it's not like anything bad happened. The conversation was, for the most part, totally normal. There were no oddities in the short little interaction, so why exactly was it that big a deal to him?
Well, the answer to that question is simple; you wouldn't get out of his head.
she's a god
The mindless rambling he used to find so infuriating now constantly had his total attention, even if he tried to pretend like he didn't care. The little bounce in your step that always made an unnecessary sound on the pavement that once used to annoy him to no end was now cute. And he can't forget about your loud stupid voice. The voice that had signaled his misery for so many years, now made his heart race a little more than it should.
carry me to nirvana
Tsukishima wasn't stupid. He knew what was happening. Does that mean he's gonna accept it, or let it happen in any way possible? Hell no.
You were meant to his best friend's sister, the one that was always bothering him and asking if she could join in on the fun. The one that he hated. Not this.
Everything was fine he figures. If he could just pretend like nothing was happening and force himself to hate you again, everything could just go back to normal. He just had to make sure no one else noticed.
"Hey, Tsukki?"
"Yes?"
"Why are you suddenly being so nice to Y/N?"
and everybody's like
"oh wow, tell me now, how'd you get so spiritual?"
Well shit. There goes that plan.
It was lunch now, Tsukishima and Yamaguchi both at their normal table, you, however, were missing for whatever reason (He'll pretend like he doesn't know, but you actually said this morning in the middle of a ramble that you had to get extra math help during lunch today, and too "try not to miss you too much"). The question really came out of nowhere, and it caused Tsikishima to choke a bit on his drink.
"Not that I mind of course! I love that you're finally warming up to my sister! I was just curious." Yamaguchi continues, trying to clear up a non-existent misunderstanding.
"I don't know what you mean Tadashi," Tsukishima explained calmly, trying not to expose his newer thoughts on the other Yamaguchi twin.
"Oh well I just thought something happened the other day at my house, that's all. Ever since then you've been really nice to her, well, as nice as you get. It's really reassuring too. It really made her upset that she bothered you so much, she felt bad she was constantly annoying you." Tadashi let out, releasing a breath. "Anyways, do you know when that project is due?"
Tadashi had moved on with the conversation and was now on a totally different topic, but Tsukishima was stuck on his previous words.
He made her feel bad? Four days ago, that wouldn't have bothered him in the slightest. He would've just said she needs to get over it. Now though? It was eating him up. You didn't deserve all the hate he had given you in the past years.
she's a god
This was the only think Tsukishima could think about throughout the whole rest of the day, even into practice. It only got worse whenever he heard you cheer for him when he made a successful block. You really were nothing but nice to him, so why was he so against you?
gimmie peace, gimmie dharma
Even on the walk home from practice when you were praising the two for playing so well, he couldn't do anything but feel bad. Was he really that mean to you?
and she walks amongst us on her way to work
You kept rambling on and on, and just for a split second, Tsukishima let a small smile slip out. He supposes it wasn't that big of a deal. If you had tried to win him over after all these years, he didn't have to worry about you going anywhere because of his poor attitude.
i'm her chosen one
It's almost laughable really. How had he been so irritated by you before? While of course hes gonna pretend like you still get on his nerves to no end, just to see if he can put of this little crush of his for a little bit, he doesn't see how he ever meant it.
You were always smiling, always so happy. It was like constantly breathing in cool, fresh air. In the off times that you were being serious, it wasn't overbearing. You made people feel safe and secure. You and your brother both had that feature.
Maybe, just maybe, he'll have to give you a chance.
