"Have you seen my sh-" Stiles was dangling the freshly ironed henley in front of Derek's dazed face. He smiled as a thank you and was heading back to their bedroom before he remember something else "How about My-" the words hadn't left before Stiles wordlessly pointed to Derek's full back pack sitting in the corner.
"What the hell. This is my third year of college and you're more put together than I am"
"I know it's funny right. I'm usually the scattered brained one" dumping the rest of his drink down the sink he pressed a kiss to his boyfriends cheek "Oh how the tables have turned. C'mon sexy we better get going"
The two had pulled up to the campus, Derek still trying to get an arm in his jacket. He wasn't sure exactly what the day was going to bring. It was another new chapter they'd have to go through together. Despite the fact that they lived together it would be new juggling school and their relationship. And one day a social life, unfortunately Stiles was Derek's only friend so he dreaded the day "Okay, so your last class ends when?"
"2:10"
"Sweet. I'll be in until 2 so we can get lunch together"
"Sounds good Derry Berry"
He shoved Stiles away with a laugh "Cut it out"
"Whatever. You'll be missing me by your second period"
"Oh I believe it. Kiss me so I can go" With the roll of his eyes Stiles did as he was told. Generously he offered the older boy a kiss that was all lip.
He watched his back as Stiles sauntered off. The pang of worry present all throughout his chest.
Derek hated to admit it but he thought about Stiles during his classes. If he was doing okay, if he found he classes alright. Derek wondered if he had found someone to escort him, he wonders if that person knew he had a boyfriend.
It was a failed attempt as Derek tried to shake those thoughts from his mind. When had he become so possessive? There was a part of him that knew it probably wasn't attractive or fun to deal with but he couldn't help it. It was like he had finally gotten Stiles in his arms and no one was ever going to take him again.
Without realizing it class had ended. His classmates were all rising and rushing off to their next classes as he waited and tried to figure out how the lecture had gone by so fast, and how he ended up with only three lines of notes.
This was not the best way to start off the school year.
As the day passed, no matter how hard he tried, his schedule just never seemed to overlap with his boyfriends. It didn't help either that he'd catch couples on the lawns or sharing meals on benches. Was he naive for wanting that? Just once.
There would never be a day Derek would ever regret a second of anything he has with Stiles. But sometimes he wonders if his jealousy stems from moving too fast, if he didn't give themselves a chance. But all it takes is to see that beautiful face smiling back at him to remind him that he made the right choice. He just needed to calm down sometimes.
Like a ray of sunshine the end of their school day came. And with it Derek was waiting anxiously in his car. He tapped away at the wheel as he let his eyes dart throughout the quad as he waited for Stiles to come running up.
Derek isn't quite sure what he expected, but he knows Stiles waltzing up with a handsome tanned stranger wasn't what he had in mind. When he stops and really thinks about it he had spent most of his day thinking about his boyfriend he hadn't really given any thought to socializing. But it seemed as though Stiles had no problem at all at making friends. Maybe Derek would be less convinced the guy was after something had he not been standing so close. Instead of causing a scene and jumping out to eagerly introduce himself as "Stiles' Boyfriend" Derek kept his restraint and waited, and waited...and waited.
"Who was that?" Derek was able to ask once Stiles finally left the stranger and got into the car.
It was clearly nothing to him as he shrugged "I ran into him on the way to the car"
"I just felt like...he was hitting on you"
"Oh he definitely was" he scoffed.
Bushy eye brows shot up Derek's forehead as his deep eyes grew "What did you say?"
Leaning across the middle console Stiles placed a big wet on on Derek'S cheek "I told him to keep his botany major hands off of me before my boyfriend kicks his ass"
"Aww. Did you really say that?"
"No I just thought you'd feel better" he admitted with a wave of laughter "He was just giving me a pamphlet baby that was all"
"Promise?"
"Promise. Now come on let's hurry home I wanna hear about your day"
