Derek used to always roll his eyes at those surprise videos. Mainly because Erica would shove the clips in his face with tears in her eyes. But lately, Derek's been thinking about Stiles, and his own bombshell idea. A surprise didn't sound so bad.
He doesn't think he'll ever get tired of seeing him, he'll never get over missing him, or seeing those big brown eyes light up. Which is why he rushed through his midterms and packed up his dorm room to get home three days early.
The young college student felt electricity coursing through his veins as he tossed his full duffle bags onto his bed. It would be other hour until Stiles was home from school. So he was on the sofa flipping through the channels. The house was quiet when all of the kids were out, Derek actually missed. Stiles appreciated the emptiness but Derek welcomed the kids running throughout the halls.
He was dozing off to something on the discovery channel when he heard his mothers confident foot steps come to an abrupt halt behind the sofa "Hello?" Derek turned and flashed her a pearly smile that had her worried face changing to shock. He stood to hug his mother "Oh Derek! We didn't expect you for another three days"
He shrugged "I know, but I was able to get everything done so I could come back early"
"Honey, why didn't you tell us? I could have sent your father to pick you up"
"I actually was hoping to surprise Stiles. So I wanted to keep things on the low" she wrung her hands together, breaking eye contact. Her once bright smile faltering "If you'd prefer I don't talk about us to you just say so" Derek admitted. He thought back to the sit down he and Stiles had with his parents before he last left. Their probing questions should have been enough to prove their love but his mother still didn't seem convinced.
"Stop it. You know it's not like that. I just worry, I don't want this all to be some sort of affair to you, and you think it can become a regular thing. I could be in big trouble"
"What about this seems like a fling to you?"
"Nothing" she exhaled, not pushing anymore "Nothing at all--Well, Stiles will be home any minute. I suppose you should get ready. I'm going head back to the toddlers" She kissed his cheek long and lovingly before sauntering away. Derek waited until she was a ways away before he was rushing to his boyfriends room.
Hardly out of breath, Derek rounded the corner leading to the corridor lined with doors. At the one belonging to Stiles, was the pale boy himself. Backpack slung over one shoulder, his flannel abandoned and clutched tightly in his hand while his other was twisting at the door handle. He disappeared but only for a second, then Derek was slipping in through the quickly closing gap. The Stilinski kid was quick to turn over his shoulder feeling the sudden presence there.
"Dere-" he began to gasp, but his lips were stopped by Derek's eager and anticipating ones. His backpack fell, audibly, to the ground as he freed his hands to rope them both around his neck. On instinct Derek was tightening his own around Stiles' narrow waist. He pulled at the dark hair of Derek's nape, pressing his rawboned body into his boyfriends in attempts to deepen the kiss. Derek walked the two back, until they were falling ungracefully onto the mattress. The kiss turned into smiles crashing as they realized they were being silly "I thought you'd be here in three days" Stiles questioned, running an admiring hand down the side of Derek's face.
He buried his nose into pale, mole scattered skin inhaling the very much missed scent of his boyfriend "I wanted to surprise you"
"Well-" he began before stealing a peck "-consider me surprised. I missed you"
"I missed you too" Derek situated himself better in between Stiles' legs as he spoke. He grinned into Stiles neck, as he slowly got to work on a hickey. The young boy ran his anxious hands up and down his body. For a second, Derek was wishing he had showered before jumping Stiles but it was too late for that.
