"Arthit."
Arthit broke his gaze from the person lying on the bed towards the voice as he felt a hand on his shoulder.
"P'Pha," Arthit called out.
Phana sighed. He looked at Tootah and Knott who was sitting in the room. Arthit was in his own world that he didn't hear Phana entering the room.
"I need to talk to you Arthit, it's important." Phana had this seriousness in his face that made Arthit worried.
"What is it P?" Arthit asked, his eyes cold and face blank.
"We need to talk in private," Phana said calmly. He sighed when he saw Arthit stare back at the person lying on the bed.
"Arthit," Tootah called out as he approached his friend.
"Go with P'Pha, we're here to look after Kong. If there's an emergency we'll let you know." Tootah gave a tight smile.
Arthit hesitantly nodded his head. He placed a kiss on Kongpob's forehead. He stared at Kongpob for a minute, taking in his pale face, colorless lips, and sunken cheeks. He yearned to see those beautiful eyes that open which always held the warmth of his world. He sighed before he walked out of the room with Phana.
Tootah and Prem shared a look. It's hard to see their best friend like this, and it's hurting them too.
Arthit seemed very confident that Kongpob will open his eyes, but they could see that the latter was breaking inside. After the surgery when Kongpob was moved into his room Arthit went in with the flowers the younger asked, he talked to the unconscious man that he had bought his flowers and the latter has to open his eyes to see them. Tootah was there during the time and he tried to control his tears.
Arthit kept the white lilies and red carnations in a vase with water and whenever the petals dry or withers he replace it with the new one saying Kongpob could open his eyes any moment. While on the other hand doctors were already loosing hope. Kongpob's condition wasn't getting better, it was getting worse.
Tootah looked at Kongpob who was lying on the bed.
"It's been three weeks Kong, we know you're strong. Wake up soon, it hurts to see your P'Arthit like this." Tootah held back a sob as he caressed Kongpob's forehead.
"What is it P?" Arthit asked as he settled down on the chair opposite to the doctor in the room.
"See Arthit, I don't like making assumptions so I had to take clear evidence before I jump to conclusions. Sorry I didn't share it with you sooner."
Arthit raised his eyebrows hearing Phana's words. "What do you mean P?"
"It's about Kongpob's surgery." Phana stated and he watched as Arthit's back straightened.
"What about it?" Arthit asked, his voice containing barely any emotion.
"The surgery was performed by me and one of my other colleagues. We had predicted high risks before the surgery and we had even discussed the extra precautions we had to take. So it came as a shock to me and my team when things were going out of control during Kongpob's surgery."
"I was cent percent sure that there wasn't any mistake from my part but there are cases where things don't contain in our hands so I pushed the possibilities at the back of my mind. But it was stuck with me, what I saw and what I heard." Phana sighed as he leaned back on his chair.
"As I reported, Kongpob had intense bleeding. It's only when his heartbeat started to drop did we notice the internal bleeding. The main reason was that the bleeding started to occur from the part away from the region we were operating on. That itself was confused all of us. We didn't think any further into it, our main aim was to rescue the patient."
