We didn't talk for the rest of the drive. I was consumed in my thoughts as we pulled off the highway and onto the gravel road leading to my house. What if Julian is new here? I guess if he is I sure gave him a warm welcome. I laughed out loud and Marissa stared at me from the drivers seat. "Sorry M, just thinking about something funny." I said truthfully. She just turned back to the road ahead.
After about two minutes of meandering along the gravel road we went throught the gate and rode up to the house. My house is a small white Victorian with a wrap around porch. I got out of the truck and walked to the front door with Marissa and the guys on my heels.
I pushed hard on the door and it slowly creaked open. I walked in and let in the group before turning to close the door. "Ok, guys lets set up in my room." I said before heading upstairs. I loved my house. It was the best house ever. Lots of great memories in this house. Like the time I walked down the stairs in my overalls and cowboy hat and boots when I was littler. I love being the 'farmer's daughter' it gives me a close connection with my dad that most people don't have.
When we finally got in my room I closed the door after Terry who was last to enter. After a moment I finally asked M what the test was on. She told me what we had been studying and let me borrow her notes. I had to complete the review and hand it in tomorrow but other than that I was set. So after a while we all got hungry and decided to make pizza. We actually took a vote. You'd think a group of teenagers could decide what to make for dinner without a vote but I guess they all wanted to make me pay for forgetting our study time.
So after we all decided on pizza we had to choose a kind. Terry and I wanted ham and pineapple, but M and Blake wanted pepperoni. We decided on making two pizzas. One of each kind. I was rolling dough when I got a face full of flour. I glanced up from the rolling pin to see Marissa standing there with flour on her hands and a slightly guilty look on her face. "What was that for." I ground out clenching my teeth. She looked like a deer caught in the headlights before she shook her head and pointed at the dough.
"It was for the dough, but your big head got in the way." she said causing the guys to laugh. We both joined in laughing a little while later. I picked up the rolling pin and hit Marissa in the arm with it lightly. I was a country girl and my friends are city slickers. So she glares at me muttering cuss words and complaining. I laughed and got back to work smiling.
After I made the dough and everyone else had made toppings we got to work on decorating our pizzas. We got into a food fight half way through because Blake couldn't resist flirting with his boyfriend. So he threw pepperoni at us while we through back pineapple chunks. I was having fun but I knew we had to clean up before mom got home, so I slipped the pizzas into the oven and grabbed rags handing them out as I walked to the closet to get the mop.
We finished cleaning around the time the pizza was done so we all decided to watch movie before Terry, Blake and Marissa have to go home. Setting up the movie was easy we all decided on a romantic comedy. I was excited to see the boys cry because I heard the film we were watching was sad. Sadly not a tear was shead. I can't say the same for me and Marissa though. I had to find a tissue box so we could dry our tears and blow our noses. At around nine o' clock I sent everyone home.
As I watched them leave I couldn't help but wonder why these to boys didn't cry. I know for amfact straight men don't cry during depressing movies but what about gay teenage boys? I could have sworn I saw Terry shead a tear. Blake kisses his face all over so it could have been that I had seen.
I started for the stairs leading to my room when the front door opened. I spun around so fast I got whip-lash only to see my parents come in. My mother Mary and my father Chris smiled at me and motioned me over to them. I stopped about a meter away and looked at my father as he cleared his throat. "Charm did we just see your friends leave?" dad asked. I nodded and looked between them before sighing.
"I'll go clean up the living room," I said slowly, "I already cleaned up the kitchen." I watched my parents dissapear into the kitchen before I moved to clean up the used tissues and popcorn that was strewn across every square inch of the living room. We even go some popcorn in picture frames.
That was one wicked evening. As I walked up to my room I was thinking about what tomorrows test will be like and wondering if I'll see Julian. I sighed dreamily as I crawled into my bed after changing into my pajamas.
The next morning I'm woken by a pounding on my door. My mom calls through, "Charm, your going to be late if you don't drag your lazy butt out of bed now. It's 7:30 already. Hurry up." She finally walks away as I pull myself out of bed and into the shower. Ten minutes later I'm in my room looking for something appropriate to wear to school. After an extensive search I finally decided on a pair of dark holed jeans and a rose coloured tank top. I grab my shoes and head downstairs with my books.
Mom's in the kitchen making bacon, eggs and hash browns, when I walk in. The toaster popped and I moved to go butter a toast and serve myself some breakfast. When I was finished breakfast I washed my plate and headed out the door giving my parents hugs on the way out.
I pulled into the school about seventeen minutes later and parked beside Marissa's silver porsche. She was just getting out of the car as I pulled up. Getting out of the car I spotted a group of girls fawning over a brown haired boy. I laughed and went to join my group at our usual meeting place. Which coincidently was under the big oak tree that is right in sight of the group of girls.
I gasped audiably when I realized who they were smiling so seductively at. Julian. I giggled and pointed at him whispering to M, "Look at that piece of meat." She spun around and saw what I was looking at and ran over to join the group of girls still trying to get in his pants. I turned away from the sight and faced Blake and Terry. They were in the middle of a serious make out session.
I cleared my throat and stomped my foot swinging my hands in exasperation when I hit something hard behind me. I gasped and turned around with an 'I'm sorry' ready on my lips but I froze instead. As I looked up into a pair of chocolate brown eyes. I drew in a shaky breath and apologized, "Sorry, Julian, I didn't see you there." I said and he laughed. Did I say something funny? I don't think so. Then why is he laughing?
"It's alright. But it seems that your always hitting on me. Not that I can't see why. I am what most girls call, 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' but still..." he trailed off.
I just stood there dumbfounded. After a moment, I scoffed and walked off. He doesn't deserve an apology. He deserves a good smack upside the head. He thinks he's 'gorgeous', well I beg to differ. He's a jerk and I'm not going to waste my time. I've been there done that.
****So what do you think of Julian? Like him? Hate him? Think he should have a change of heart? Why was he nice to her in Panago and harsh to her now?
