Cross sat in a chair staring at Blue, who had been placed in a wood makeshift cell. On his wrists were magic restraints that Horror had managed to steal from an Au. Blue curled up and whimpered.
Cross sighed, Blue had been doing that for almost an hour now. Cross was started to regret ever agreeing to any of this. Chara floated next to him with a sly smirk curled onto his face, "you're starting to feel guilty aren't you!?" Cross looked at Chara and crossed his arms, "it doesn't matter, it's not like a I had a choice anyways..." Chara snickered and mocked as if he was poking Cross, "oh but you did! And you didn't even bother arguing!" Cross stared down coldly at the floor, "why do you have to bother me right me right now!? Can't this wait till later?" Chara sighed and pretended to pout, "but it's soo borrinng! I'd much rather waste my time teasing you than watch the axe guy fall down the stairs again!" Cross groaned and leaned back in the chair as Chara continued to babble.
Cross sat up as Blue stirred again. This time though the small helpless skeleton sat up. Cross stood, Chara had fallen silent and now stared curiously at the cell. Blue looked around before he finally locked eyes with Cross. His expression was mix of shock, horror, and grief. A sudden wave of guilt swept over Cross as tears began to fall down Blue's cheeks. Chara scoffed, "nice hes crying now." Cross glared at Chara before slowly stepping forward. Blue slid back, wiping the tears from his eyes.
Cross stopped, he had never seen Blue so terrified before. Blue wrapped his arms tightly around himself. It was clear he was trying his hardest to keep more tears from falling. A few sniffles later he decided to speak, "why?" His voice was light and gruff it almost pained Cross to hear it. Cross stared at the ground not even sure how to respond. Chara stared at Blue who was looking at Cross with pleading eyes. Cross sighed, "look Blue I didn't mean for it to go that far I-" Cross fell silent after seeing the look in Blue's eyes.
Blue looked as if he could burst into tears that very second, or worse start yelling. Cross hated not knowing what Blue would do, normally he could tell in an instant. His expressions were as readable as a book, but now it just lead Cross into an abyss of confusion.
Cross and Blue stared at eachother for a few minutes. Neither of them dared to even speak. That was until Blue was tired of waiting, "....is he really dead?" Cross's soul almost stopped, he hadn't expected Blue to ask that. What was he supposed to tell him? Blue would despise him if he told the truth.
Cross frowned, ".....yes." Chara began to laugh hysterically, "why so scared to tell him? Are you afraid that he'll discard you like everyone else? You're so pathetic!" Cross stepped back and sat in the chair again. At some point he'd have to admit Chara was right. Blue pulled his knees to his chest and stared at the ground. Chara smiled seeing how the uncomfortable tension in the room began to rise. Blue sighed much to both Chara and Cross's surprise, they had expected him to start crying again. It was really the only logical thing to do after it was confirmed your only living relative had died. Instead Blue had started to talk again mostly just to keep the silence from becoming too unbearable, "did Ink really annoy you so much that you turned to these....well criminals?"
Cross clamped onto the edge of the chair, of course Blue would ask about that. Cross bit his lip before taking a deep inhale, "he didnt exactly annoy me, we just had many....disagreements." Chara snorted, "disagreements is an understatement. He is just little whiny bitc-" Chara was silenced by Cross's unforgiving glare. "Oh..." that was all that Blue stated before he stared uncomfortably at the ground again. Cross bit his lip and stared at Chara who was now making silly faces at Blue. Cross motioned for Chara to stop but Chara ignored him and continued. Cross internally groaned before looking back at Blue.
Blue was tracing circles in the ground with his finger. Cross didn't noticed until now that Blue wasn't wearing his iconic blue gloves. Cross huffed not able to keep his lingering question in for any longer, "how's Dream?"
Blue perked up and stared at Cross. His head titled slightly to the side as if he was confused by what Cross had asked. Chara gagged, "you still care for that filthy wretch? I thought you gave up on that hopeless moron a long time ago!" Cross frowned. Blue smirked a bit and crossed his arms, "so you really are still friends with him! I thought you'd given up on that. In honesty he's not doing too well...the only reason he even gets up in the morning now days is because of me. Now that I'm here I don't know how he'll take it..."
Cross nodded slowly but then cursed, "oh who I am kidding Nightmare will kill me if he finds out that I'm asking about Dream!" Cross stood up and looked back at Blue, "I'll send Killer down with some food, don't take this too harshly. Nightmare will get bored with you and let you go soon enough. Unless...." Blue waited for Cross to finish his sentence. Cross sighed, "nevermind..."
Blue then watched as Cross disappeared through the doorway leaving him alone. He gulped and hugged himself, burying his face into his knees. He didn't like be alone. Oh how much he wished he was still with Dream and Ink.
Cross made it up the stairs and was currently walking down the long and winding hallway. After a while he finally made it to the final door. The door was plainly painted black and bore an engraving similar to most of the other doors. The engravings always symbolized who inhabited the certain room. For instance Killer's was a target, Horror's was an axe, and Dust's was a bone. This particular door, though, had a crescent moon as its engraving.
Cross sighed before reaching out and turning the handle. The door opened to reveal a dimly lit, poorly decorated room. Cross stepped forward and shut the door behind him, "you wanted to see me?"
