It had been about an hour of catching up time between the fashionista and the farm girl when they decided it was time to call it a day and take their sisters back to their own homes.Rarity's POV:
"Applejack, I just want to say it's been quite nice getting to know you...again." I said. "I'm so sorry it started off so rough between us, which was due to my own insecurities."
Applejack gave me a calm smile and rubbed her hand on mine. "It's really alright, like I said, I forgive ya Rarity."
An unfamiliar feeling turned in the pit of my stomach at her touch. I wanted to pull away my hand but something kept it there- that is until I glanced at her phone that read the time. I quickly took my hand back into my own lap.
Applejack slowly pulled back her own hand and shifted her eyes off me to the time as well.
"Gee time sure flys when you're catching up...guess we should find the girls," she said.
Applejack and I headed back to the arcade only to find that our sisters weren't at the game that we left them. I slightly started to panic. I looked at Applejack concerned who unlike me, seemed as cool as a cucumber.
"Don't fret, I'm sure they just quickly got bored of this one and moved to another. Guess we gotta search the whole place for these little rascals," Applejack chuckled.
We went around the whole arcade for what seemed like years searching high and low for the girls. I was starting to get more and more anxious. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse- they did. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a few ladies walking together and laughing. Oh no.
I tugged at Applejack's sleeve.
"You know maybe we should go check the front desk," I said rapidly turning to see the ladies getting closer to us.
Applejack furrowed her eyebrow in confusion. "I doubt my sister would leave the arcade, I trust her a lot to stay right where I told her."
The ladies were approaching faster by the minute as Applejack started to walk their way still calling out for Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle's names. Her yelling attracted the attention of some people around her which included a few of Rarity's spa friends. Well, they weren't exactly her friends. They were just people Rarity hung out with because they had high status, there wasn't a real true friendship connection there.
"Rarity is that YOU?" One of her "friends" called out.
Rarity had made a desperate attempt to hide behind some teenagers but her iconic purple curls were hard to miss. The girls recognized her right away.
"Rarity it is you! Come out from there and say hi to us! You should've said you'd be at the mall, we would've joined you!" Said Fleur De Lis.
Rarity acted like she wasn't trying to avoid them and flipped her hair while turning towards them with a fake smile plastered on her face.
"Oh, hello darlings! I-I didn't see you there!" Rarity could tell by her own voice that she was shaky, she prayed Applejack wouldn't come near her in the next few minutes. She needed this chat to be quick.
"Well would you like to join us? We're just heading to the cafe to grab a bite. Besides..." Fleur turned to look at Applejack who was fanning herself with her hat. "I'm sure you'd like to get away from this environment."
Another one of her friends spoke up.
"What are you doing in a smelly loud arcade anyway?"
Rarity could feel the her face heat up in embarrassment. She brushed herself off and cleared her throat nervously.
"Well I was simply seeing what it's like on the...other side."
"Other side?" Her friends questioned.
"Yes you know, what ordinary people do." Rarity had hoped she had saved herself with her explanation.
"Oh alright then. Are you with anyone?"
Rarity nodded her head no. "No darlings I just needed a little me time out today."
"If you insist, well we'll be on our way then. Enjoy...whatever it is you're doing." Fleur ushered her friends away.
Rarity sighed knowing she was in the clear. Well at least they won't know that Apple-
"Rarity I think you're right, we should check the front desk," Aj said while walking up to her. Applejack must've just been loud enough or her friends were just close enough that they could hear their conversation.
They turned around sharply at the sound of Rarity's name being called out."I thought you said you weren't here with anyone," one of her friends commented.
Rarity struggled to speak. This is exactly what she had feared would happen.
"Rarity?" Applejack said concerned. "What are they goin' on about and how do they know you?"
Rarity's lips were sealed shut but her mind was screaming. She could feel herself getting sweaty which she absolutely hated. As her stylist always would say, "one should glisten or glow but never sweat."
Rarity thought quickly of one way to save herself, although she knew it was a huge risk because someone would get hurt. She glared at Applejack and walked next to her stylish friends.
"I don't know who this girl thinks she is. She's my nanny you see and she lost my little sister here," I explained to them smoothly.
Rarity hated herself so much for what she did next, it felt like she had struck a dagger in her own heart.
"This is all your fault! I should've known better than to trust someone like you." Rarity said in disgust. "Come on girls I have to find my sister."
With that the 5 of them stuck their noses in the air and left Applejack behind. Rarity glanced back at the country girl only to see her face covered with sorrow, confusion, and anger. Rarity turned back around walking out of the arcade and didn't dare to look back. She had tried. She really really tried to be herself but the little voices in her head had once again took over her brain. And just like that, she had messed up a third time with Applejack. All she could think of was 3 strikes and you're out. Rarity had run out and now was afraid that Applejack would never forgive her.
She felt a black tear (from her mascara) drip down onto her shoes.Bye- why am i crying. Anyway ty for reading, commenting, and voting like always<3
