Chapter 2

Camille's POV

I felt the blood rush to my cheeks, "Um...h-hi I'm Camille, something interesting: I'm adopted, plans after High School: Texas A&M University to study Veterinary Medicine." I stammered.

"Thank you Miss Camille, one last thing before I move on, Miss Camille I don't command the whole classes attention much, but when I do I would appreciate the whole classes attention including yours and your texting buddy beside you, please and thank you." He said.

Sky's cheeks flushed a rosy color as she was put on the spot with me at the end.

I focused to avoid more embarrassment. I wasn't sure if Sky did the same, but I did feel a buzz in my pocket after her turn.

After everyone was done, we still had 30 mins of the class hour left.

"Well Seniors we have 30 mins left, you may Now do what you please since there's no homework for you to work on or study, but you can't act a fool. Mingle. Text. Talk. Just don't go crazy just in case someone important peeps in or comes in here." Mr Yamahada said.

Good. Now I can check out the text I got.

Sky texted: 'Maybe he not as cool as they said he is.'

I replied: 'I hate to say it but, I told you so, I told you not to get your hopes up you did it anyway. Also you can't be mad at him because he didn't appreciate us ignoring him during his class. Be reasonable Sky. Give him a shot before you decide he's the devil. Lol.'

Sky: 'I don't know.'

Me: 'Girl, stop it. Everyone deserves to be judged fairly.'

Skyy: 'Ok, I'll give him a chance. Only because you had a good point.😩'

Me: 😋

The Bell rung.

"Time to go to the next class, I'm so glad that senior year we finally have all our classes together." She beamed like her usual perky self again.

As we were headed out the door Mr Yama said, "Miss Camille, hang back for a second sweetie." We both stopped. "Miss Sky go on ahead to class don't want you to be late." He stated.

I was a little nervous I was in trouble already, on the first day of school.
"Save me a seat!" I yelled as she went out the door.

"Don't worry your not in trouble, I just want to say, sorry if you felt I was being hard on you today. I know it's you guys first day-" he started. "Oh no no no, I don't think you were being hard on me or my friend. As I explained to her it's our fault for seemingly blowing you off. And I'd like to apolo-" I started, cutting him off. "No apology needed. Also one last thing before I send you on to your next class which is..?" He questioned cutting me off, after I'd cut him off.

"Anatomy and Physiology."

"Oh ok, well as I was saying, one last thing before I let you go....I'm always am here to talk to whenever you have any questions or problems" he stated while looking directly into my eyes, in which a flash of yellow flicked across his eyes as he said the word 'problems'. I had to imagine the eyes color change right?

"O...ok...thanks" I said. I definitely didn't expect this line of conversation.

"Yes, now here's your note for your next class." He explained as he wrote an excused late paper for me.

"Thanks," I said walking out the door. I picked up my pace to my locker. While walk I thought about the yellow eye color I swear I saw flash in Mr. Yama's eyes.

I walked out the classroom in thought. Both puzzled and intrigued.

Was it a trick of the light? Am I seeing things? Or did that really happened.

Ultimately I dismissed the last option, as I reached my locker.

I grabbed my book for the next class and headed there.

When I walked in the class the teacher stopped and said, "Miss Camillie I presume?"

"Yes, I'm sorry I'm late Mr -"

"Don't bother explaining, he called to say you were late because of him not you. So please have a seat." She said cutting me off.

I looked around the room seen Sky and hurriedly sat down.

The minute I sat down the teacher began talking again. "For the young lady that just walked in I will repeat my name, which is Mrs Ritana ([ri like the word rid] Ri -tan-uh). And as I was saying this this class is the study of the human body and its functions. As well as the brain that makes them function. Any questions?" She asked.

" Yes" she said pointing to the girl who had raised her hand.

"What made want to teach a class like this"

"Well it was simple for me I was always fascinated with the brain and it's functions so....." She started. In which I zoned out.

The rest of the school day went like that with teachers either introducing themselves or asking us to introduce ourselves or both.

By lunch time I was starving due to not having breakfast since I had to rush out. Sky and I got our food and picked an empty table to sit at and when we sat down we noticed quite a few people sat down with us.

We all introduced ourselves again to each and and shared small talk. It was nice to have new friendships already in our senior year. Because other than that me and Sky knew everyone because we've been at this school since freshman year.

After lunch it was back to Mr Yama's class, where he reiterated we can do what we want just don't act like idiots doing it and be considerate just in case someone important comes in.

Then after his class we had two more classes then the first day of school was finally over.

"Hey Cam, to save gas starting tomorrow I'll ride with you every other week ok? And you can ride with me every other week. Just don't be running late girl." She said smiling as she got in her car.

"Ok, and whatever girl." I said laughing as I walked past her to the other end of the parking lot to my car.

As I was walking towards my car I noticed Mr Yama and Mrs Ritana talking. It seemed like Mrs Ritana was flirting with Mr Yama with the way she was laughing and always finding a reason to put her hand on his chest or his arm. I ducked out of sight, head peering slightly over the hood watching.

'I shouldn't be here right now' I thought to myself.

And to my surprise the second that thought floated through my mind I swear Mr Yama's whole body language changed from kinda relaxed to stiff. I think Mrs Ritana noticed it too as to the reason she asked him, "Are you Ok?"

" Yes, I'm fine but I gotta go." He said abruptly.

"O...Ok, see you tomorrow Kaden" then she walked to her car only a couple of feet away and got in, looked back at Mr Yama and then started her car and drove off.

As he turned to get in his car that he was leaning on, it was that moment someone decided to call my phone. Which I had turned off of silent the last five minutes of school.

So I was like a deer stuck in headlights. I thought about my next course of action.

'Dignity' popped into my head, so I chose to stand up straight and walk around the corner into sight and saw Mr Yama turn his head to see me and he looked a little flushed like he was guilty of something. Then he nodded his head in acknowledgement to me before getting in his car and driving away.

I then quickly got in my car to get home before anything else exciting happened.
