"I just never saw Red as gay." Oscar stated as he sipped some coffee. Silver had let her parents discover the boys, but they hadn't woken them up either.

"I mean Chuck was obvious, it was clear he'd at least be bisexual since he was a kid, but Red just didn't seem like he liked...anyone to be honest." Oscar sipped his coffee as Silver sat across from him at the table. She had a glass of pumpkin juice.

"Are we gonna do anything about it?" Charlotte asked as she used her wand to pull out what she needed to make breakfast.

"No, if we say anything they might not see it, and then they would grow apart." Charlotte nodded along as Silver spoke, starting to see what she meant.

"Who would grow apart?" The groggy voice of Chuck came from the entryway of the dining room. Red was right behind him, rubbing sleep from his eyes.

"Nothing boys!" Charlotte quickly interjected, "I'm making pancakes, want some?"

"Sure." Red said through a yawn. Chuck have an excited clap and rushed to help his mom prepare breakfast, like he did every morning.

"Hey Chuck, can I talk to you about something?" Charlotte asked as she waved her wand, flipping a pancake on the stove.

"Sure Mom! What is it?" Chuck came over and watched as his mom cooked.

"Well, you see Chuck, some people like only one side of their pancakes cooked, some prefer the other, some like both, others don't like pancakes at all." As she spoke, Charlotte flipped the pancake to the other side, as if to express her point.

"Okay?" Chuck felt confused. Why was his mother talking to him about pancakes.

"What I'm trying to say is, no matter how you like your pancakes, your dad and I will always love you. Do you understand what I'm getting at?" Charlotte glanced down at her son, hoping her pancake analogy came across like she hoped it did.

"I think I do." Chuck actually had no idea what his mom meant, but he didn't want to upset her by not understanding.

"Great! Now why don't you go make sure you and Red have drinks while I fill these plates with pancakes?" Charlotte smiled at her son's beaming face.

"Okay!" Chuck ran out of the kitchen, "Hey Red, want some pumpkin juice?"

Charlotte chuckled and went back to her cooking. Soon she and Chuck were serving everyone breakfast. As Chuck sat at the table, shoveling bite after bite of pancakes into his mouth. He thought of his mother's words in the kitchen, wondering why how he likes his pancakes would be important, but then he looked over at Red, a warmth blossomed in his chest. The meaning of his mother's pancake speech hit him, and Chuck began choking on his breakfast.
