| You and your soulmate are attached by an unbreakable red thread tied on your ankle/wrists/whatever.
NOT SUPERHEROES |Richard Grayson took the quest to find his soulmate to heart. Everyone had this thing called a red string; It could be tied to your finger, wrist, arms, legs, etc.
It couldn't be destroyed, cut, or burned, and at the end of the string, there is always a person attached.
Over the years, people started calling that other person their soulmate. You can only see yours, but everyone has them. All the strings tangled together with other strings, but you only have the chance to follow yours.
And soon it was dubbed The Red String of Fate.
Richard had the string of fate, but it wasn't what people had described it to be.
He asked Bruce, Alfred, even checked the internet, but none of them had any explanation for his question.
Why was his string blue?
Staring at his left pinky, where the string was attached, he had the most brilliant idea! Why not just follow his string?
It was obvious that the person wasn't in Gotham. He had followed it once, and it led him out of town. But before he could cross the line, Bruce was already there, waiting for him in the limo.
How he knew he was there was beyond him.
But he was 13, Bruce wasn't home, and he knew how to drive... Heck, he could take the plane if he wanted to.
Or not, he didn't exactly know how to fly that, but it could be fun!
With his decision final, he set to work.
~~~~~~~
He regrets taking the plane instead of the car! But he thought it was easy and could be fun.
It was also proving to be quite difficult following your string in the air when you can't really see the said string.
He didn't know where he was, but a tug to his left had him swerving that way.
He didn't anticipate the sharp turn, nor did he think he would lose control.
Spinning in the air, he had the smart idea to steer the plane away from the tall buildings that were heading towards him, and instead, fell towards an open field.
He didn't want to risk jumping out to use the parachute, only to be too close to the ground and hurt himself. So he strapped in as tight as he could and prepared for a harsh landing.
~~~~~~~
A tapping sound against the glass woke him up from his peaceful slumber. He jolted awake at the onslaught of memories that assaulted him.
What happened? Was he dead?
He moves his head and a sharp pain went through his body. Definitely not dead.
The tapping sound kept getting more urgent by the second. He glanced up and saw, as much as he could through the cracked window, something red.
Eventually, the other person noticed he was awake and moved towards the door.
"If you want out, I suggest you help me pry this door open. That is if you aren't too injured. Which, if you are, I'd totally understand if you just wanna sit there." A young male voice yelled.
He groaned, but got up and put all of his weight against the door and pushed while the other male pulled.
Eventually, metal scraping together filled the silence before the door gave out, and Richard promptly fell into the other boy.
